I think they genuinely believe this is the best defensive plan going forward:

Zebina-Andrade-Legrottaglie-Chiellini

They think they have their starters already, with Grygera, Molinaro and Birindelli as depth, with Mellberg, De Ceglie and Criscito in the summer and Birindelli and the dufus out.

Now that Mellberg is delayed, they'll go after some dufus to be a fill-in until that lineup can be used (for the first time no less).
