Who is letting these clowns run our transfer policy. A player who cant do anything special should not be relied upon to be world class for us. Sissoko will be like having a younger quicker Tacchi without the passion for the club. No point.

I don't know but I have a feeling that in the end we won't sign Sissoko.
I mean, come on, the guys(Secco and co) can not be that silly...
Anyone suspects a smokescreen here?
Because in the past with Moggi we had same situations(Vieri admited that he was on the verge of coming back and then we signed Vieira). And it seems that Secco speaks with Moggi.

I'm gonna have second thoughts on this. If we loan him, and he impresses a lot, and we get him as a first option in the summer, then we have done good business. Try before you buy. I'm still not convinced on his abilities though. I don't hate him, I think we need something different to his position. Defenders are a priority.

Sissoko given Juve go-ahead

Rafa Benitez has given the all-clear for Momo Sissoko to join Juventus, but Tiago Mendes’ revival could put a spanner in the works.

All parties involved in the transfer have confirmed over the past few days that negotiations are at an advanced stage with an announcement expected imminently.

“I was talking with Momo about leaving a few times, and with his agent,” Coach Benitez told LiverpoolFC.tv.

“We know we have two or three clubs asking about him and we will try to find the best solution for him and for us.

“In a top side the competition is always really hard. We've brought in Lucas (Leiva) and with (Steven) Gerrard playing in the middle this year, plus (Xabi) Alonso and (Javier) Mascherano, he is under pressure.

“But he wants to play every game. We will try to find a solution for him because he is a nice boy.”

If Benitez is eager to reassure that relations with Sissoko have not soured, the midfielder is not taking the same position.

“Nobody is contesting that Gerrard should be a first choice, but when he prefers Mascherano or Xabi Alonso to me, then I see nothing but prejudice against me,” the Mali defender was quoted as saying in the Italian media.

“We went to Marseille for the Champions League and all my family was there, but he didn’t even let me on for a minute. This is why I want to leave Liverpool and join Juventus – Claudio Ranieri is a real gentleman.”

However, Ranieri could still put the brakes on Sissoko’s transfer despite requesting the player after they worked together at Valencia.

It is reported in this morning’s Italian newspapers that the Bianconeri are waiting to see if flop Tiago can deliver on his promise after the week of intensive training in Malta.

Ranieri commented he was very impressed with the Portuguese midfielder’s form after the Christmas break and noted how things he had previously found difficult suddenly seemed simple.

If Tiago does well against Catania this evening, it is possible the rush for Sissoko will have less momentum behind it.

On the other hand, a fine performance could also convince Tottenham to prepare a £9m offer for Tiago, giving Juve the cash needed to sign Sissoko immediately.

if he thinks that he is better than alonso or mascherano, than that is only good thing. I said before I love Momo how he played first season in Lpool. After i did not see any games of him, but i know he was not playing ,or not playing well.

Not that I am for this transfer, but if Ranieri stops a transfer which is in the final stages just because one of our current players has a couple of good training sessions then he truly is an idiot!

Though I do hope we dont sign him and stick with Tiago!

I think Ranieri is waiting for Tiago to score a hattrick and provide seven assists in tonight's game to change his mind about him and forget Sissoko.

The only time when i watched Sissoko was against Barca and Ronaldinho and i was impressed.
But it looks like those were his best matches and he isn't anything special like he gave an impression on that match at Camp Nou.

Nevertheless, i'm neither pro nor anti this deal.
van der Vaart, KJH and few others are summer objectives and no-one will sign players of such caliber during the winter.
And we still have 20m euro (although this was reported by goal.com) and a non-EU spot opened for this winter. If we buy a non-EU player now we will have another non-EU spot for the summer. If we don't, then we'll only have the 1 non-EU spot for the season 2008/09.

Since we'll play CL and Serie A and in order not to suffer when we'll rotate the squad we'll need 25 very good players of similar quality (something like Inter this year).
So Sissoko or someone else for the midfield , i don't care, but we must buy quality this winter and not many quality players are available at this time.
