that avatar will backfire though..you're trying to hard to jinx it so your strategy itself will be jinxed and we'll end up with atleast 2 of those players I'm afraid.

Mellberg for free isn't too bad if its for the depth, considering the probable exit of Boumsong.

Sissoko's transfer is totally pointless and foolish. I'm hoping Valencia will get him and complete their disaster year.

whilst i respect your opinion and belive you are one of the more accurate posters i think you are wrong about Nocerino's attacking abilities.

It is only through Nocerino’s reliance on his defensive abilities that you have failed to see that he can play with class and creativity, he sure is no Giovinco but he can definitely contribute attack wise. It is Nocerino’s own fault though as he has serious limited his scope of abilities in order to nail down a starting place at Juve based on his defensive mindset. I think the problem with Nocerino is the “Gattuso” image. I have read where Nocerino likens himself to Gattuso and his defensive mindset but I think this is where the problem lays as he is to fixated on trying to be Gattuso that he forgets he can actually pass a ball. If any of you watched Piacenza’s games last year you would know that he can do a whole lot more than protect the back four as his passing and ability to form an attack through strength, patience and the ability to “read” the game was outstanding, yet at Juventus it seems all he wants to do is run around like an erratic headless chicken like a certain Milanista. For those who say “oh bit he needs to protect the defense” this viewpoint is very one eyed. Yes he has to help out defensively but this doesn’t mean he has to forget everything else and focus solely on this one aspect alone, especially with a player like Zanetti beside him. I first noticed this when he was employed as the sole CM with defensive abilities with the Azzurini at the 2007 U21’s and this is infact one of the reasons we didn’t win the competition. For those of you who think I’m talking rubbish, just watch a game or two of Nocerino at Piacenza last year and you will know exactly at what I’m trying to get at. Hopefully Nocerino can learn to expand his game beyond his defensive side and show some of the qualities you think he does not have
I've never watched Nocerino before this season with Juve.... you certainly know better than me and thanks for the enlightment,,,, still I'm going to shoot you:p

Calcio Debate: Signing Sissoko A Huge Mistake For Juve

With Juventus looking virtually certain to sign Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko, Carlo Garganese believes that the Bianconeri could be making a huge mistake…

It is common knowledge that Juventus are on the market for a top-class centre midfielder during this month’s transfer window.

This has led to a host of big names being linked to the club, including the likes of Diego, Rafael Van der Vaart and Javier Mascherano.

Ultimately though it seems that the Old Lady have plumped for Liverpool battler Momo Sissoko. “The negotiations with Juve are close to conclusion. I can confirm that there are advanced negotiations between the Bianconeri and my agents.” the player told RMC a couple of days ago.

The 22-year-old Sissoko seems to have this mythical reputation, particularly in Italy, as the “new Patrick Vieira”. In reality nothing could be further from the truth.

The Malian is quite possibly the most over-rated player currently in circulation. He can’t pass, he can’t tackle without getting booked, he has poor technique and his shooting is abysmal as exemplified by the fact he has only scored two goals in his entire career.

The only attributes that Sissoko has in his locker are physical – he has excellent stamina and can run all day long. However does this make him a good player?

Most certainly not, as if this was the case then Olympic athletes would combine football with their track & field careers.

Admittedly at the age of 22, Sissoko is still very young and there is still a lot of time for him to improve. He may surprise me and suddenly develop an ability to pass, tackle, shoot, and control a ball. If he does I hold my hands up and apologise, however I just cannot for the life of me understand why Juventus would be prepared to pay the reported €15m for the player.

Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco had a disastrous transfer campaign last summer, and I am really beginning to doubt his competence at his job.

The Bianconeri splashed out €22m on Tiago Mendes and Sergio Almiron, a huge amount of money on two players that were never going to be a title-winning or Champions League-winning centre-midfield partnership.

Surely it would have been better to spend that money on one guaranteed world-class midfielder?

His other signings from last summer have also failed to shine. Jorge Andrade was awful in the opening weeks of the season before his serious knee injury, while Zdenek Grygera and Hasan Salihamidzic have hardly set the world on fire.

The only new players this season that have impressed are Antonio Nocerino and Vincenzo Iaquinta, and it may surprise you to know that neither of these were Secco’s signings.

They were in fact former transfer guru Luciano Moggi’s players. Iaquinta was tracked by Lucky Luciano for a number of years, while Nocerino joined the Juve youth-system six years ago before being sent out on loan and co-ownership deals.

Indeed the real reason Juventus are performing so well this season is everything to do with Moggi and nothing to do with Secco.

It is the likes of Trezeguet, Chiellini and Buffon who have been protagonists, while even the brilliant crop of youth players that includes likely future Italy internationals such as Sebastian Giovinco, Claudio Marchisio and Domenico Criscito was Moggi’s work.

The imminent signing of Momo Sissoko appears to me only a continuation of the disastrous transfer policy of Secco.

What are your views on this topic? Is signing Sissoko a huge mistake? What are your views on Secco’s transfer policy? Goal.com wants to know what YOU think.

Koeman Confirms Interest In Sissoko

Ronald Koeman has confirmed that he is in the running to challenge Juventus and take Mohamed Sissoko back to Valencia from Liverpool to bolster his midfield.

The Dutch coach believes that the 22-year-old Mali international is the perfect player to step into the defensive midfield position as he bids to change the fortunes at Mestalla.

Juve looked to be favourites to land Sissoko, but a return to Spain may tempt the player that has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield this season.

”We know the deal is complicated but it is not complete,” said Koeman. “He has all the characteristics of the player we need.”

Valencia are looking for a new player to add strength to the midfield after David Albelda was told that he was no longer wanted at the club.

Sissoko made 45 appearances for Los Ché in a two-year stint at the club after he joined them in 2003 from his first professional side, Auxerre.

In his first season at Mestalla, he helped the club to win the Spanish title, the UEFA Cup and the European Super Cup.

A successful switch to Liverpool then saw him enjoy success in the European Super Cup, again, the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
do it valencia!

It wouldnt be to bad if he was used in a 443......

.....Sissoko.....
..... Nocerino..... Tiago.....

..... Camo..... Van Der Vaart...

..... Trez.....

Or you could throw Zanetti, Del Piero, Iquantia, Palladino or Giovinco into that formation instead.

Elkann expects Sissoko swoop Thursday 10 January, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus shareholder John Elkann is confident that the Old Lady will complete the signing of Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko.

The Cadetti champions are looking to replace disappointing summer arrivals Tiago Mendes and Sergio Almiron and Sissoko seems to have his heart set on relocating to Turin.

“We will strengthen,” Elkann insisted. “Juve are having a good championship and are aiming at securing a place in Europe next term.

“If we are to compete on that stage we will need to reinforce the squad, but it is difficult to say who we will bring in with any certainty.

“Sissoko certainly could be the first element. But we tend towards the school of thought that you should never assume anything when it comes to buying and selling.”

It is believed that Juve will pay around £7m for the Mali international who was set for a switch to the Stadio Olimpico last summer but a £10m price tag derailed the deal.

sissoko " I am almost juventino "
sissoko " In the next few days there will be large announcement. Liverpool, Juve and my agent are working on the transfer "

come on,he is not that bad.my only concern is Nocerino and Marchisio's future.
it doesnt matter how good or bad he is. we already have noce-zanetti duo what is very good. What attributes does sissoko have what are better than those two? Beside its a waste of money, instead of trying to invest in to defense.

We need a backup midfielder. (rather go for maresca or get that parma youngster).

the "experts" on this forum are being way too harsh on sissoko and the club's management. You guys are acting if he is some trash player. He is a very good DM and just cuz we have 2 good DM players at the club already it does not mean that Sissoko's transfer is not needed. Ranieri wants him and He is the coach so I am sure he might have some sort of idea of how he can use the players as opposed to you guys.

God the second one person gets something in your head it seems you all do. Calm down and at least wait to see him play. As for players which are need according to you all ... just wait and see. VDV, Amauri, Zapata... etc .. they can still come whether or not Sissoko comes.

I for one think he is a very good, hard working and dominating player.

u need more than 2 good mid's at a club dude. especially if we are planning on playing in the CL next season.

and we probably will sign the parma player. i would also guess we will offload Almiron and Tiago (either now or in the summer)
