Benfica are ready to make permanent the loan deal of Juventus striker Fabrizio Miccoli.
Aware of comments from Juve director general Luciano Moggi that Miccoli could return to Turin, Benfica are keen to close a deal for the Italy international.

Benfica have an agreement with Juve that they can sign Miccoli permanently for £3.5 million.

Hmm...Rustu Recber, El Hadji Diouf, Davor Suker, Theodoros Zagorakis and Miroslav Klose come to mind.

Not sure about Suker and Klose. Suker played for Real Madrid and did OK, and Klose is, along with Kuranyi, probably Germany's best striker, and has been doing fairly well last two years.

Good points, but then Suker's performances could have been said to be relatively poor considering his WC exploits, and in Klose's case lets just say for a footballing nation of their stature Germany should have better strikers. ;)

Agreed, saying he's their second best striker isnt really all that flattering, considering the state their football is in. Still, I think he's done fairly well. We were even linked to him in the past :D

True, who else would qualify as a one-tourney-wonder IYO?
Nicky Butt. "Best player of the tournament, WC 2002."

From the lips of Pele himself. (Or well, something like it)

Illhan Mansiz - what happened to him?

Good to see he's having success there. Benfica isn't the team it was last season, but anyone has a shot in the Superliga this season, really.

That is idiotic....Suker was at his prime at WC,30yrs old....after that he was sacked by Toschak(remember Seedorf and co?) and he made a mistake by moving to the lousyest leauge in the world EPL.......he even wanted to retire after Arsenal loss in UEFA Cup.....people should remember his games before WC,not after....

Anyways....you setteled him with a group of idiots. Suker is a world legend, not an idiot....
