Di Vaio's Sale Opens New Doors For Juve
    goal.com

The transfer of Marco Di Vaio from Juventus to Valencia for 10.5 million Euros has opened new doors for the bianconeri in terms of incoming transfers.
The two possible candidates to replace the departed Di Vaio are Alberto Gilardino of Parma and Adrian Mutu of Chelsea. However neither transfer is easy to obtain as there are some obstacles which Luciano Moggi will have to overcome in order to sign either one of them.

For Gilardino, Parma are asking 20 million Euros and Roma seem to have already a pre-contract with the Italian under-21 starlet. The asking price is not a problem for the 'Old Lady' as Moggi is ready to pay them in a 5-year installment, however if the giallorossi are able to obtain the money required for the transfer, they would have first option on the player.

The road leading to Mutu seems easier as the player is valued at 10 million Euros, however his wage demands of 4 million Euros are too high for the current Juventus philosophy and unless the Romanian forward decreases his expectations, the deal will not go through.

A third possibility would be Luis Fabiano who is also followed by Fiorentina and Roma in what looks like the umpteenth transfer war between bianconeri and giallorossi.

Di Vaio said that he wanted to leave Juve because he wanted to play more. At least he was honest and pointed out that it was not Juve that wanted to sell him.

I think it will be a good move for Marco. I for one thought he would come good sooner rather than later. I was surprised that it was taking too long. From the player he was in Parma to the current Di Vaio is somewhat shocking!
Now I also have doubts about Gilardino - What if he is the next Di Vaio?

i dont think so. di vaio was great at parma, but not as young as gilardino. even if gilardino fails one season, he's young enough and can improve.

di vaio didnt have enough space at juve, thats why he didnt play good.

After being targetted by Europe's most important clubs, Alberto Gilardino has surprisingly revealed he is close to a new Parma deal.
The Italian striker declared today that he is close to an extension of his current contract with Parma, which ends in 2006. Gilardino in fact seems quite impressed with new coach Silvio Baldini and is looking forward to the new season with the Ducali which is mostly made up of young and interesting players.

"I'm close to a renewal with Parma," stated Gilardino, "I await confirmations in the coming days but I'm calm. The group is young, there are many valid and interesting players and especially there is a lot of enthusiasm and willingness to do well. Together we can do well."

If Gilardino does sign a new contract with the gialloblu, Juventus and Roma will have to change their transfer market plans and target other strikers for their forward line.

These players joining Valencia will mean the Azzurri will have some players that dont actually play in italy. Whens the last time that happened ?:)

The news means nothing, its just means Parma don't want him to leave on a free in two seasons time. A Contract means nothing these days.

Di Vaio has spoken for the first time after he completed his £8m move to the UEFA Cup winners.

"I’m happy with the transfer to Spain," he stated. "I did everything that I could in order for the deal to be concluded.

"I’m convinced that I will have a lot more first team opportunities with Valencia than I had at Juventus."

It's not only Moggi who is cunning in this world! :D ;)

Its a good thing that a certain section of the NT is branching out to foreign shores, its a good exposure. And also will teach them a more attacking style of play than they themselves are used to.

I read that a number of clubs including us and Barcelona were interested in Baros but he said no because he wants to stay with Liverpool.
good man baros...we dont need him, he is a bit wee, and in effect jus a on form dyo.....in all areas they are very similar.

gila / zlatan would be the nice moves.

I don't like this deal at all. I'm definitely gonna miss having DV scoring goals for us. At the moment I'm not sure who's likely to be able to replace him. It would be great to have Gilardino but I doubt he's gonna come to Juve. That I have a strong feeling of.
