Cesare Prandelli explained his Italy resignation, noting Mario Balotelli was “part of the project” that failed.

If we didn’t score goals, then it means we have certain structural limitations. The responsibility is mine, with choices, tactics and substitutions,” said Prandelli in a Press conference.

“The technical project did not work and therefore I take responsibility for that.”

“We had what was needed to do better and I put on four strikers, but we still didn’t create scoring opportunities. In these situations, there is physicality needed as well as quality.

“In terms of fitness preparation, we knew it would be difficult to find the same sharpness as the South and Central American teams. Uruguay and Costa Rica were clearly quicker and were first to every ball. It worked against England, but not the other two teams.”

That will depend on who actually replaces him. I hope to see someone who realises the problems the italian game is facing and resolves it rather than sticking heads in the sand pretending everything is fine
Hopefully, but I don't think anything will change until new owners with money come to Italy.

Man do I feel so deflated. We honestly should have won this group. Prandelli did the typical Italian thing though, bringing players like Motta and fucking Parolo, leaving Rossi home. But even the players themselves are to blame. So little passion from some of them, they didn't look like they wanted it at all. In 2010 when they were all veterans who have now won it all it was somewhat understandable, but this year they were playing to restore Italy's honor and pride, they embarrassed themselves and the country.again though, prandelli has no excuses. What the fuck kind of substitutions were those today? He gave the game away with those, you could see the momentum change so quickly. Cassano is fucking useless, especially if you an to defend and counter. What kind of decision is that? I'm a big balotelli fan, I even got is jersey this year, but now its time to to show him some dicepline, we've all had enough. Fuck. Absolutely disgraceful, and there's no improvement in sight. I'm so tired of Italy in general, especially after that champions league/ Europa league performance too. No more Italian coaches for the nt or juve, no more old Italian players for juve. Even the young ones are mostly hopeless.

Prandelli seems really pissed about Balotelli.

what do you think of Albertini being president?
I dont really know much abouy his intentions or politics but it was clear that when baggio was given a role in the set up to later resign because abete was being a senile prick it was clear that he had to go in order for the league and nation to progress

i started a thread about what coach should run the Azzuri next but I don't see it. I put the three names floating around and wondered if anyone else wanted some other coach ala Vialli etc
