I don't think Quagliarella was offside whatsoever, I thought he got the off the line one right, but anyway, easy to give the 50-50's to the defending team.

I don't feel bad for Italy at all

-They didn't take advantage of the easy group
-They had 3 games to earn pts to qualify just like everyone else
-They defended like amateurs

Overall this does not surprise me, but I did expect more from the Azzurri.

Italy fans can start the list of blame, here I'll start it for you:

It was a tough call for the offside. The replays show that the legs were on line and Quag was offside only with his chest and his head.
If the ref gave advantage to Quagliarella, the Slovaks would have had very little to complain about. Just like the Italians have very little, actually nothing, to complain about now because technically Quagliarella was indeed offside.

Tough luck for Italy there because that was such a close call that it was a clear 50-50 call in which one team will be the more lucky one. It was the Slovaks this time.

A team that is partnered with Gila and Iaqiunta is a comedy show itself, seriously is that the same team that Baggio once played in? I think Del Piero scored more international goals than all of this attack line put together.

Bottom line: Italy suck. It's even boring to think about them.

Well...

i'm sad,and i'm not stupid nor blind,i know Italy has been bad.
No creativity and no superstar to carry and lead the team, and i know the team is old,and the young guys not ready yet.
BUT still,in this group i was 100% sure we'll qualify.
And someone must admit,in 2006 won the WC with a strong defence,today,2010 lost it and going home thanks to the defence that was pathetic, all the goals that were conceaded were simply D mistakes.

Too bad the team woke up 20 min from the tournament end.
Forza Azzurri:(

This wasn't a very good Italy squad. And Lippi was a completely overrated manager after the last WC for a team that compensated for his failures in big matches. So I am not surprised. I may be 21st in the FIFA Fantasy Football, but I didn't select a single player from Italy for a reason in this Cup.

It's a rebuilding year. The team fielded looked more like preparation for Euro 2012 than an attempt at WC 2010. Pack it up, learn, get over it, and move on. Italy was never good enough to go far in this WC.

This team is full of losers, they deserve what they got. They can't put 2 or 3 good passes together. They don't press opponents, positioning ism essed up, the midfield is totally discconected from the attack, and they just have no identity. They are in the right place which is the bottom of the group. Don't let the door hit you on the way out Italy
