This doesn't give Lippi an excuse to make obviously inane decisions, like playing Marchisio out wide when it has failed - several times - in the past.

He's lost it.

Lippi is stubborn, which is a big positive and negative at times. He has gone with the solid squad, ok, but it is judged on results. If they scrape through to the group stages, as usual, we can't say what will happen.

Impressive record indeed however this does not excuse him for the choices he's made with the National team. He's making terrible decisions thats going to cost Italy.

I was reading Cannavaro's statements about the NZ match, and aside from some silly excuses, I felt real anger when I saw that when asked why can't his team play better and win, he answered:

“Really, I don't understand it."

How many times did we hear this from every single Juve coach and player this year? Now the Azzurri players say that too.

It obviously isn't just a problem of the coach and the tactics. So many different coaches, different tactics, but yet both Juve and the Juventini in squadra azzurra fail.

It's like they expect easy wins and they are surprised and shocked how they can't make those wins and score those goals. Did the thought that they aren't good enough anymore (or they never were...some of them) cross their minds?

Maybe they just can't cope with getting older. They'd have to put an extra effort into the game, but they still expect to shine with their usual level of performance, which just doesn't cut it anymore.

I really like when some kids from the forum say that Lippi is lost or that he doesn't know what he does or that he is not a top coach...:disagree:
But I'm not surprised at all, the guys from the same forum were saying bad words for Ferrara-- according to them he was not a class he is not a legend...so I'm not surprised for those comments about Lippi.
I may disagree with something Lippi did but who am I to act like I'm better than one of the best World coaches.

Well as of right now, he's being stupid. The past is sort of irrelevant. It's like when people say Italy are the best because they won 4 world cups.
