Italy have struggled in their opening two matches, drawing against Paraguay and New Zealand.

They now need to beat Slovakia on Thursday to give themselves a chance of making the Second Round.

“If Italy weren't to go through it would be a scandal for them,” Maradona said. “But I am sure that the most important teams will go forward, even if I am amazed at France's situation.
