Deserved exit. Spain had at least two clear penalties not awarded, yet they still won, the better team.

Fact is, the Azzurri were terrible this entire tournament. Always next time.

Congratuation guys on the loss of Italy... I am really upset because this loss happenned while Del Piero, camoranesi and Buffon were in the squad. They don't deserve to play under this jerk's command.

He has to be the worst coach to manage Italy in History. There are many evidences for his incompentence but I think playing Perrotta as a play maker behind the strikers has to be the stupidest thing any coach in history has ever made. Other things like playing 4 deffensive midfielders in a quarter final. Leaving your league top socorer and maybe the best player in the world on the bench, along side one of the best right wings in the world.
Other things like playing Ambrosini as a left midfielder was quite stupid as well. In addition to introducing Del Piero in the last 10 min of extra time for god knows what reason. Unless he was supposed to shoot a penalty which would be really stupid to leave ur best PK taker to shoot the last pk of 5 because there is a good possibility the game won't reach there.
But what were we all thinking? Italy to win the euro!! yeh right... Italy have played 3 games (prior to this one) in which they showed no tachtiques or strategies of plays. Players are just throwing long balls (when they feel like it) in hopes it might reach Toni. Italy have scored 3 games. The first had some luck in it where the ball found panuci not the other way around. The second was a PK and the third was a wreckless freekick that got diflected by the opponant.
In all 4 games Italy have failed to conduct any proper attack when Del Piero was off the field, let alone when both Del Piero and Camoranesi are off the field. If Del Piero hadn't started the Romania game Italy would have been out because for the period he was playing in all attacks went through him and he was properly pulling all Romania's deffence with him. I don't want to turn this into Donadoni vs Del Piero thing, but it is a pure fact that not playing the best players and not fielding players in their proper position was so clear with donadoni's formation.
Don't forget that Italy's back line are formated by 4 fullbacks.

what did they do`? nothing .... like every player
no heart no soul no honor to play for italy
Del Piero came on with 10 minutes left in extra time and was probably put on only to take a penalty. He barely got the ball and still almost made a chance for Italy.

Camo also came on in the latter stages and immediately created a chance for Italy, and scored a very good penalty in the shootout. Plus he's not even Italian.:D

I have to congratulate italy, they have managed to play the dullest and most lifeless football I think I have ever had the displeasure to witness. Not only have they got no creativity in the whole set up, they are slow and cant pass either.

1 of our 3 goals was a penalty and the other was a deflected free kick, we dont even deserve the title 'world champions'

Donadoni's lifeless formation and tactics reverted back to the old Catenaccio days and the lone forward and 'deadly goal threat' couldn't score in a brothel.

Thank you very much for your contribution to the Euro's Italy, I will not defend this shambolic effort.

not this game the whole tournament
You are absolutely correct thats way he was the best player for Italy in the NL game (although was a sub), he was playing out off his position in the Romania game while Donadoni's tachtique were long balls to Toni he still managed to create most of italy's chances in that game and almost scored on various occassions he created for himself.
