I think Holland will not lose Van Persie Robben and Huntelaar will all be pushing for a starting place in the knockout round and will be eager to impress, although snjieder and van der vart van nistelrooy and van bronkhurst will all be rested.

But i think both holland and Italy will win 2-1.

Probable:
ITALIA (4-3-1-2): 1 Buffon; 19 Zambrotta, 2 Panucci, 4 Chiellini, 3 Grosso; 8 Gattuso, 10 De Rossi, 21 Pirlo; 20 Perrotta; 9 Toni, 18 Cassano.

Perrotta again. :disagree:

If this happens Italy and france will be eactly level on 2 points each and same goal difference of scored 1 and conceeded 4.

So it depend on the score that Romania lose by to holland they will have to lose by at least 3 goals. Then all 3 teams will be exactly level on goal difference etc if Romania lose 3-0.

I think the qualifier is drawn out of the hat then.

if romania lose by 4 italy and france will have a penalty shootout to see who qualifies
WRONG!
Penalty shootout could omly happen to decide third place
If Romania lose and Italy and France draw Italy will go through

You have serious mental issues.
Actually, his post was great. WTF you're talking about? His post was 100% spot on.

I hope you beat them, and I know you can. France fucking blows and we all know that.
Ya, they blow so hard that Italy hasn't beaten France in any competitive match (in 90 minutes that is) for straight 30 years. And less than 1 year ago, they received a thrashing in Paris.

So, the only changes from the Romania match are Gattuso for Camoranesi and Cassano for Del Piero.

Ok, i can understand why Cassano replaced Del Piero. I can also understand why Gattuso replaces a more attacking player but i have no idea what will Perrotta's job be and why didn't Donadoni leave Camo and replace Perrotta.
Camo can play the trequartista role just as good (and much better) as Perrotta.
If this was a 4-4-2 with Perrotta covering the left side then ok, but if it's a 4-3-1-2 then it's retarded to play Perrotta as AMC.

Italy and France face penalty pain Tuesday 17 June, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tonight’s crunch match between Italy and France could result in a grim penalty shoot-out to resolve third place.

The two World Cup finalists square off tonight knowing that anything less than a win will almost certainly lead to an early flight home.

But they could be handed a further indignity if Romania beat Holland and their game finishes level.

In this situation, France and Italy would be tied for third with identical records and would be forced to take penalties to decide who finishes fourth, even though both sides would still be eliminated.

This is the first year that teams have been required to undergo this formality and it would serve to decide which team takes more co-efficient points, which are used for seeding future tournaments.
This is great :rofl2:

They'll want to hide after being humiliated and eliminated but they'll be forced to take penalties with their fans whistling and insulting them from the stands.
UEFA can not be more retarded than this.

CUOLD ANYONE EXPLAIN:
SOMEONE SAID THAT IF ROMANIA WILL LOOSE 1-0 AND ITALY DRAW 1-1 THEN WE THROUGH. WHY? ROMANIA WILL HAVE BETTER GOAL DIFFERENCE THAT WE AND FRANCE.

The question is:
a)count goal difference at all
b)count goal difference between teams which are leveled

if a) than Romania should loose 0-3 or greater..
if b) than Italy will go through coz we will have 2 goals scored, france 1 and romania 1...

Inspiration from Nedved:

Nedved tells Italy to stay focused

Juventus' Czech Republic midfielder Pavel Nedved has called on Italy not to make the same mistakes his compatriots made that sent them home early from Euro 2008.

The Czechs were 2-0 ahead against Turkey in their final group game, but conceded three goals in the last 15 minutes.

"I still don't understand what happened," Nedved told www.juventus.it, "it really was strange and for a while I couldn't understand this type of match happening to our national team.

"Perhaps at 2-0 the boys were convinced they had ended the match and slackened off a bit. The first goal made them scared and the second took their legs away from them."

Nedved, who retired from national team duty following the 2006 World Cup, is hoping that Italy can learn from the Czech Republic's mistakes and dismisses talk of the Netherlands and Romania fixing the result.

"I'm hoping they don't do what my ex-teammates do. However, it won't be easy as qualification doesn't just depend on beating France.

"I don't think there's any possibility of a fixed-result because no-one wants this type of ugliness in the game."

IL Pinturrichio are you sure? if yes than our chances rather good/ and if we played 0-0 what than? we will go through by coefficents right?
It's been explained many times in this topic.

If Italy-France play 1:1 and Romania lose, then Italy go to the 1/4's because in the mini table consisted of Italy,France and Romania, Italians will have better goal difference (actually, only one goal scored more than Romania and France)

If Italy-France play 0:0 then it depends how will Romania-Holland play. If Romanians lose 0:1 or 0:2 then they will pass the groups because they'll be leveled with Italy in the mini table but they'll have a better goal difference overall. If Romanians lose 0:4 or 0:5 etc then Italy will pass the group.
If Romanians lose 0:3 then the coefficient from the qualifications will be the decider and Italians are better and they'll go to the 1/4's.

Btw, how do you rate the chances of your own national team to beat Sweden tomorrow and pass the group.
Will your best player Arshavin play ?
