I Have Nothing Against Italy - Domenech
In a jokey press conference, French coach Raymond Domenech claimed he actually likes Italy, contradicting many of his own past declarations.
Considering that tomorrow's match between Italy and France could end up with both countries in mourning, French coach Raymond Domenech decided to avoid his usual controversial declarations and actually claimed, for the first time, that he likes Italy.
Both teams need to win to have a chance of progressing, but if Romania beat a probably under-strength Dutch side they would keep the World Cup finalists out of the last 8 at Euro 2008.
"Tomorrow we could both end up crying, it would be the first time we do something together," Domenech joked.
"I've always said Italians are nice people, I like their football and their food. But you can always make it seem like I said something else.
"We have to think about one thing at a time," he explained. "We have a match to play, but we don't have much chance to make it. We have to win our game, otherwise it's pointless to know about other games. I will know about the Holland result from the stands. The Italian and French fans will scream it out.
"Today everyone is feeling better, we still have one night to let the players rest. We will talk about the formation tomorrow and then decide. I don't know if I'll change a lot, I still have 24 hours to decide and communicate it to the players.
"Will it be my last match? I can't say whether this is my final press conference as a coach, but certainly this is the last question I'm answering today," Domenech concluded.
