This bit I don't like. The Dutch have earned the right to field whatever team they choose.
They have and they will. No one can force them into anything, even if the first 11 play, it's not like you are going to force them to play well and score, that's ridiculous.

I think Italy should just concentrate on winning their game against France to at least save some face if they aren't going to qualify. They have been better than France, they have been a lot more misfortunate and that's why they are in the same position.

I'm not saying Italy have been playing well but they have been a lot more decent in the second game than the first which probably means they have some kind of momentum while the French have been blatantly terrible.

There is no doubt however that the quality of the French side can overtake any side on its day. However, I have my concerns for their ageing defense. Thuram has been a joke and not calling Mexes to the squad was pure idiocy from Domenech. Their midfield is very overrated by the way.

Ribery is their best player but he still has a long way to go before he can even be considered in the same league as Zizou. Malouda is rubbish. I honestly don't know why people think he's good. Makelele is too old. Toulalon is not too good either.

Henry is probably their only decent player in attack and he hasn't been too great lately. Benzema choked, Anelka should strangle himself.

Coupet has been the worst goalkeeper of the tournament. Some dude in Florence must be laughing his ass off right about now.

When you come to think of it, France really isn't that good and if Italy can find the right formation, they have a very strong chance of beating the French.

Just read Huntelaar will play instead of Ruud van Horserooy, the quality is not really decreasing if you ask me.
If you compare the names in the Dutch team to the names in the Italian or the French team you'll see that there isn't some big difference in quality. Actually, the French and the Italian look much stronger.
The quality of the dutch team, the players who played the first matches, was in the movement, the team play, the great physical preparation. They seemed like they played together for ages.

Now, you can say that the quality isn't decreasing but i don't know if the second team will have the chemistry the first team has, if they will work like a unit, all for one and one for all etc.

As seen from the French NT, it's not about the names of the players, it's about how they function as a team.

That's true Alen but the Dutch second team have many players that have been playing brilliantly when coming on as subs such as Robben and Van Persie. They have an abundance in quality in midfield and in attack. The problem is if they play their second string defenders.

I think he will rest 7-8 players leaving Van Der Saar, De Jong, and 1 other player, probably a defender.
De Yong has a yellow card so he'll be rested, i guess. Ooijer is the second player who has a yellow.
Van Nistelrooy will be rested and Van Basten will do the same with Sneijder and vdV, imo.
Both of them are extremely important and seem fragile (vdV is also injure prone). He won't take a risk with his stars.
I read there are some injury worries with Melchiot and Robben so perhaps these two from the B team won't play.

van der Sar, 2 or 3 defenders, the big DM and Kuyt is the the maximum i expect to see against Romania. Even that's too much.

Hopefully the refereeing get better all around, not just for Italy. As it has been struggling as a whole this tournament. David Silva and the Greece NT can attest to that.

Now what would be embarrassing is if we make all this fuss and the Italians fuck up against France even if Holland wins against Romania... So I hope the Italian camp will just concentrate on WINNING and leave the rest because it's out of their hands (a situation us Juve fans are familiar with :D )

what's really sad is that the local Italian bar here charged us $5 for the first Italian game, $10 for the next and I don't know how high it'll go for Italy France because they will probably realize it COULD be their last ... sigh

Plus :
1. Red Card (second yellow) not given to the Austrian defender against Croatia for a foul from behind. It could have easily been a direct red.
2. Clear penalty for France not given against Holland (handball)
3. Poland scores a goal vs Austria from clear offside position
4. Very soft penalty given to Austria against Poland.

i feel for you, but sally you know it isnt cheap for pubs and clubs to show the matches. Some places just cant afford to lose money and need to charge to cover the pay tv bill.

I wasn't going to make a list. But I think there have also been a few corner/goal kick issues.

You are supporting Holland on facebook and you called them "my guys".

I'm not implying that I don't understand what you mean, just saying that it's a fine line indeed. Add to that the fact that EVERYONE I know in Belgium is either for or against Italy and I would say it's perfectly comprehensible to support the Azzurri and not in the least bit retarded.

Speaking with "we" is stupid even when you're talking about Juventus. We is the team, fans are not the team.
Andy is supporting Holland and he says Azzurri fans are jumping on the bandwagon? Wow Andy that is hypocrisy.

Isn't Setanta football package just $15 per month? Plus the whole lot in Lygon flocks to that restaurant and they get massive orders for drinks etc. Totally ripping us off man!

But hey beggars can't be choosers

No, this can't be right. We can't use lex talionis in football. The code of Hammurabi can not count in the 21st century football. You're talking about eye for an eye, i kill your brother you kill my son.
There are rules. You don't fix a mistake by making an ever bigger one.
Tell that to the FIGC

I dont know who to believe more
you with that comment or Domenech when he says he admires Italian football..

It is only a matter of time and I will lose my temper on you, have you read my posts or not? I already replied to you twice ONLY today but you still want to imply that I am an Azzurri hater. Is it so difficult to put anything through your thick skull? Geez!!!
JCK we know that you have said you are not an Azzurri hater many times but you have to realise the way you act doesn't back that up. Like when you posted a picture in which you photo shopped out the last Romanian defender to make it look like Toni was offside then denied it. And don't bother denying it here just watch the video. http://www.timesoccer.com/video/06.08/1307.html
if you actually watch that video you will see a Romanian defender staying just behind Del Piero putting both him and Toni offsides. In the photo you posted earlier that Romanian defender has magically vanished.
