Football is a fast paced game, and all these camerachecks in the game would totally ruin that. The level of refreeing should be improved, yes, but introducing Technology is not the right way to do that.Right now we're only talked about offsides..but in the future people will demand camerachecks for fouls, handballs, dives etc.It would make football slower, and much less attractive.
I don't beleive this is the case. When a player commits a synical/supposed foul that the ref doesn't see clearly, you already get players diving on the gournd faking injury for 1-2 minutes. A video replay to see that would take 5-7 seconds. So which one would disturb the flow more?

It's the same during a penalty call or an offside. in a penalty call players will surround the ref to try and talk with him. It takes anywhere from 5-20 seconds to do that. A video replay would take 5-7 seconds.

hehe, Im not sure if theyre good friends, they just played together.

A work work relationship, didnt see such a warm welcome when both met before the game.

But I hope this turns out to be true, I want italy to remain in the euros, mostly because its practically Ales last international competition.
Donadoni's thoughts on Van Basten-
The pair were team-mates at AC Milan and Donadoni said: "I have a special feeling for Van Basten.

"I shared a good part of my playing career with him and we both have a lot of respect for each other. "

"We're still friendly. "

As if I complain about the referee every single time we happen to lose a match or fail at an achievement. Unlike Azzurri fans, I take responsibility for our failures, just like I ALWAYS do with Juventus' failures, as in reality when you play this bad you don't deserve any luck. Please tell me where the referee in this instance gave a yellow card to an innocent man who was already booked and then pulled out the red card to show this innocent man off the pitch. Sorry, but offsides calls are much less fucked up than that.

Call me a hypocrite or whatever you like, the fact of the matter is in every single tournament I see Azzurri supporters whining about the supposed calls that have sent them out of the tournament. In 2000 it was the referee not calling stuff against the French defense, in 2002 it was the Byron Moreno being paid off, in 2004 it was the bloody Scandinavians, and now it's the referees once again. How fucking pathetic and cheap can you people be? You're always trying to pinpoint a scapegoat to blame all your failures on, and for some reason you always succeed because it's like a fucking train here... if you don't win the tournament, you've been cheated.

I mean grow the fuck up already. The reason why I'm getting annoyed with the Azzurri and Italy is not because of their football or any of their players. Rather, the reason why I'm getting annoyed by them is because they never own up to failures, how they always blame stuff on the opposition like they did when they played my side, how they think they deserve better treatment by the refs than others, how they believe they're the biggest team ever, and how they hide behind their weak ass Italian blood to racially discriminate people who want to play for them.

So if people are angry with me because of my verbiage against the Azzurri, blame yourselves because you're doing a great job at segregating people from you as it is.
I find it amusing you're telling people to grow up.

They can beat them if they want to.

Similar thing happened on euro 2004.
Czech Republic secured the first place and in the last round they played Germany. The Germans needed a win to pass the groups and eliminate Holland.
They tought they'll easily beat the Czech team without Nedved, Poborsky, Baros, Rosicky and Koller who were being rested.
But the Czech second team didn't even want to think about letting the Germans win and they've beaten them 2:1 with their second team, without needing any points.

If the Czech second team could beat Ballack's Germany (that desperately needed 3 pts) why shouldn't the Dutch second team beat Romania ?
And I don't see why they shouldn't beat Romania. Since the team that comes second is most likely facing Spain, wouldn't they want a team who has experience to face them? IMO, Italy have a better chance in beating Spain than Romania do.

Very good point, if romania qualifies theyll meet spain, so it might be better to make italy and france go through and duel it out with spain.

First we'll have to see who's gonna win group D.
What if Sweden beats Spain today ?

I'd really like to know how do the Dutch people feel about this situation. Letting the opponent win just to hurt the main rivals is something so typical for a southern european, but i don't think the western or northern europeans will do such a thing.
Dominic ?

Oh, and in case Van Basten decides to rest ALL the starting XI players from the opening 2 matches (he started both matches with the same XI), these are the players who'll play vs Romania :

Goalkeeper: Stekelenburg (Ajax) or Timmer (Feyenord)
Defense: Heitinga (Ajax), De Cler (Feyenoord), Bouma (Aston Villa), Melchiot (Wigan)
Midfield: De Zeeuw (AZ Alkmaar), Robben (Real Madrid), Afellay (PSV Eindhoven)
Attack: Vennegoor of Hesselink (Celtic), Huntelaar (Ajax), Van Persie (Arsenal)

Not a bad team at all. Hell they could have even beaten italy with that squad.

not a bad lineup for a throw away game IMO

After the horror show of 2002 Blatter said Italy were knocked out because they didn't score enough. He failed to mention that half of Italy's goals were wrongly cancelled.

The same show goes on today. Had Italy been given the goal against Romania, the game would have been very different. You simply cannot say Italy didn't show enough, because the referee changed the entire game. Apart from that Italy quite obviously did deserve to win.

I realise that you're either for or against Italy. You simply cannot be neutral about the side. I realise a lot of people don't want Italy to win. Maybe even the referee didn't want Italy to win. How else can you explain the fact Toni's goal was annulled (he wasn't just onside, he was metres onside) and a penalty given at the end of the game with no apparent foul?

In the end I'm not saying there is some sort of conspiracy, I'm just saying a lot of people don't like Italy. Add to that the fact it is only human to make mistakes and you get a lot of Italy games that are indeed influenced by the ref. To say that he didn't change the result yesterday is retarded and there is no defense for doing so. It means you don't know the first thing about football. More importantly though, I think fans should demand the use of video evidence. I want teams to decide games, not referees. If anything, this game has yet again made it clear that the need for such techniques is high.

Stop this bullshit, please.
Is being neutral not caring if Italy succeeds or fails? Because that's how I feel. I just want to see good football.

Yeah, but you're not European, Enron. You get to see it all from a distance. I can assure you that almost nobody is ever neutral about Italy in Europe.
