Buffon-Zambrotta, Materazzi, Barzagli, Grosso- Pirlo,Gattuso,De Rossi- Di Natale, Toni, Camoranesi at 100 percent / gazzetta.it
And hopefully the Azzurri will lose with that lineup, because I can't stand the back four and the midfield.

Hopefully Zambrotta will get owned again, Maternazi will get headbutted without the refs or tv's noticing, and Barzagli will play like the sort of player who is on the bench at Wolfsberg.

I know we have a good national team, but the point is we haven't won anything other than the Gold Cup which consists of US, Mexico, Canada, T&T, and others from Central and North America. The only two teams that are "good" out of that group are Mexico and the US. That's hardly an achievement for a nation like us.

The general opinion around Europe at least is that we suck, so that's where I'm coming from. Our failure to be big on the World Stage is partly why people flock to the Azzurri, Brazil, Argentina etc. I even know some US fans who instead support England.

I was amazed by Baggio as well at my age of 9 back then. Had his shoes and everything. You could certainly say that I was a fan of the Azzurri in that tournament because it was just amazing watching those guys play at that age. Perhaps like you, that was THE FIRST time I ever saw such top class players play, and it changed my life, or at least brought me into European football.

But then I realized that I had to support my own nation, yet I still respect the Azzurri, like them quite a lot, and thank them for giving us Baggio.

I'm not saying you can't sympathize with the Azzurri, Snoop.

It's not wrong to like them, Snoop. But, at least in my case, I think it's wrong to support them, which is something I cannot do.

Imagine what would have happened this past summer if I started to support Italy after 1994 and also supported the US. I wonder which team would have received "more" support and I wonder which one I would have let down. :lol2:
I understand that, if one day Armenia plays with Italy, will be a weird feeling but I will probably support Armenia then (though I have to live and feel that first, talk is cheap :D). Well it's my people, I understand when my blood temperature rise for that, that's normal. Don't get me wrong, I am not contradicting myself with my previous posts, when your country plays, the supporting feelings will come out of you if you want it or not, that's good, but it shouldn't go beyond that, that you shouldn't support/sympathize/favor any other team, when your home team isn't in the tournament. that's where we are not going to agree forever I guess :D

In my view, there is something wrong with it. I mean, like I said before, how can some guy from the middle of nowhere in China refer to the Italian National Team as "us"? He's not Italian.

Therefore, since he is not an Italian, he cannot say "us". What's the opposite of the word "us"? The rest.
Well now you're arguing over semantics. If he's cheering for my team and we would be talking about upcoming games or whatever, he could very well say "us". Yeah I guess it wouldn't be a natural choice, and he could also say "Italy" instead, but as far as I care he has the freedom to cheer for any team he likes and has also the freedom to refer to himself as part of the community that cheers for that team.

In any case, it is not my place to tell anybody what team he can or cannot cheer for. And since I, as an italian, can't tell this guy you mentioned that he cannot support Italy, I don't see how you can.

Starting one of Materazzi/Barzagli over Chiellini is more than a retarded choice.
^ Same. But The present form of Materazzi LGDS evaluated at 6 and Chiellini at 5,5. Apparently, Diddy counts on the experience Materazzi and I think that the fears will be played as Chiellini after an incident with Cannavaro. :)

EDIT:
Corriere dello Sport says Panucci starts at RB and Zambrotta at LB.
Strange ... Where is that written?

I don't know about this man, but Matrix looked like anything but a defender this season. Chiellini is a Lion, he'll eat the like of RVN anytime anyday.

At the WC 2006 also fear (and laugh) when Materazzi replaced Nesta but later Matrix positively surprised me, and although it had a weak season 2005/2006 at the tournament he played brilliantly. I count on the replay this situation at Euro 2008!

I'm surprised Panucci's going to start ahead of Grosso (if that is indeed the case). I hear Grosso's been in great form in training.
