I didn't mind the start where it was about us giving the Romans a good kicking (though I still think they decided Scotland was too cold and not worth the hassle).

I dislike the bit about banging on about a bunch of (mostly shite) players as being heroic and talking up the 'Tartan Army', which is full of pricks who care more about showing how patriotic they are than about the result.

looks like they have more fun than work, lol.
You know thats what makes them so special if you ask me. When a team gets a long really well that is when they play better. Its exactly why we won the World Cup. Our team became so united and everyone played for each other. I hope we could get that unity with this squad.

great stuff. I do hope france get wooped in ukraine and scotland-italy draw so we can both go on the euros. The scottish are fighters and they should be proud so far with their progress in the group. No matter what happens on saturday i salute you scotland.:pint:
Cheers and I am approaching the game in a pretty relaxed state because we have already far exceded our expectations.

I think we will draw on Saturday and then France and Ukraine will play out conveniently dull draw, which will inevitably lead to accusations from Scotland that the game was fixed.

Cant always fail there will be one day that they will pass(Australia making world cup in 2006 after the constant close failures).
I still remember the Brazil V Scotland game in the world cup in 98 such a terrific game. Always made me believe that a Scotland on there day could compete with anyone.

typical of us though, who else could beat holland in 78 (on there way to the final) yet lose to iran?beat argentina + england when they are worls champs and france who were finalists...yet lose to georgia, nigeria and lithuiania? scotland always exceed our expectations when we leats expect it but are god awful when we are expected to win

Iam sure Scotland are not the only ones, alot of countrys and teams are the same. Cant play when expected to win but when pressure is off there expected to do terribly they do well. Its football. Look at positives favourites are Italy, no pressure at home not going to get a better chance for victory. Italy no way near the team they where at the World Cup. Chance is there, should be a great game.

But remember, we played well but still lost and then ended up losing to Morrocco and going out.

Absolutely, but it is still a team we were capable of beating but we got thrashed 3-0.

As Bozi said we will always fail at the point people expect us to succeed.

Thank God we're playing the world champions rather than some pishy wee country because then we'd have no chance.:D

    Don has two Glasgow doubts

Less than 72 hours from the showdown with Scotland, Roberto Donadoni’s Italy line-up seems to have just two doubts in defence and midfield.

Saturday’s encounter in Glasgow is a decisive match in the race for Euro 2008 qualification, as Scotland need a win while the Azzurri could feasibly be content with a draw, having to face the Faroe Islands in their final game next Wednesday.

According to the Italian media, Donadoni has already picked his starting XI save for two alternatives.

Massimo Oddo’s pace and the experience of Christian Panucci duel for the right-back slot in Hampden Park.

It is another Milan-Roma challenge for the midfield place between Massimo Ambrosini and World Cup winner Daniele De Rossi.

Gianluca Zambrotta has now joined the squad at the Coverciano training ground, as Barcelona opted to delay handing over the player until the legal four-day limit.

It is believed the Coach will take on Scotland with a 4-1-4-1 system that can transform into a 4-3-3 when in possession.

The rest of the line-up should consist of Fabio Cannavaro, Andrea Barzagli and Zambrotta in defence, while Mauro Camoranesi and Antonio Di Natale flank striker Luca Toni.

During today’s session Donadoni oversaw a game between ranks with two different tactical systems, one a 4-4-2 and the other a 4-3-3.

Yellow: Buffon; Panucci, Bonera, Chiellini, Zambrotta; Quagliarella, Perrotta, Pirlo, Palladino; Toni, Gilardino

Blue: Amelia; Oddo, Cannavaro, Barzagli, Grosso; Camoranesi, Gattuso, De Rossi; Iaquinta, Lucarelli, Di Natale

It was the Blue team that emerged with a 4-3 victory thanks to braces from Vincenzo Iaquinta and Gennaro Gattuso.

Toni netted twice for the Yellow side and Alberto Gilardino got the other goal.

i think Italy can get away with playing two defensive minded midfielders in Ambrosini & Gattuso as Pirlo's creativity makes up for both of theirs. And also, i have my doubts about Di Natale as he goes MIA in half the games he plays
