Donadoni should start Aquilani based on his form. That kid has been on fire to start the season. I guess given the circumstances and the type of game it is it might however be better to go with the more physical De Rossi.

Buffon
Oddo - Barzagli - Cannavaro - Zambrotta
Gattuso - Pirlo - De Rossi
Foggia - Del Piero
Toni

I'd go with that, except Camo instead of Foggia. Foggia or Quag can come on when Camo tires, since he isn't fully fit.

yea what's with all the Foggia hype? one good match against Juve and every1 is gone crazy for him...we need exprienced players and if Camo is fit he must start...and hope Donadoni starts DP...he's a big match player who can change the game in a split second

Foggia may get his chance if Camo tires, but Camo has to be 1'st choice! ADP is a super sub for me, buddy...I guess much will depend on Toni's fitness. I don't see Donadoni going with Pippo up front to start so it's more a case of who supports Pippo if Toni can't hack it...& he (Pippo) won't come on till the 2'nd half. Di Natale's off form so maybe shuffling the midfield to allow possibly Quagliarella some playing time & then he & Alex supporting Pippo.

Look, I don't want to state the obvious but this is really going to be a play it by ear game!

I am no Foggia expert, (lets be honest, I am sure not many people watched him play for Ascoli and Reggina), but I have seen him play couple of times prior to this season, and whilst not overly impressed I thought he saw enough of him to follow his career, and I don't think in anyway Foggia is one game wonder.

Foggia is already a veteran of 40 Serie A games and scored nearly 10 goal prior to this season. For a man who played mainly out of position (IMO) in Left midfield in early part of his career, that is excellent goal scoring ratio, and last year, when he played in more advanced position, he scored 5 goals in 15 games for Reginna, which isnt too shabby given Reggina already had Bianchi and Amorouso, between them, I believe, banged in 32 goals.

As much as I love Ale, I just dont believe he is good fit to Luca Toni or Camo. Neither of these players are quick, and Ale at this stage of career will benefit playing from young workhorse, than static Luca Toni. Italia will have to a lot long ball in this case. Di Natale is most natural choice to start, but he has been a disappointment with Azzurri, and with his current contract situation I just cannot imagine Donadoni will be mad enough to start him. One other option is to play Perrotta in an advanced role, but again he s just coming back from injury. All this means Ale is most likely to start, but Foggia should definetely be in the fodder, if Donadoni is brave enough to select a man in form.

i think NT should have some kind of system that you dont just put a player who shined in 2-3 games, to a starting position against one of the best football teams, especially if he has been untested before and has no previous experience with NT.

Cant say donadoni has helped either, because in the friendly before, a time when you can test your players, he was using some average players and seemed like he had no clue about the system he was trying to adapt to the team. Players like Diana and Palombo.

Makes sense...presumably you mean Foggia in particular though I think if Camoranesi's fitness lets him down, that's when he should be used.

Donadoni is a street wise character, & he will hack it in time. But that's the bottom line because right now he simply hasn't the experience for this appointment!

Also, foggia might have had a good game, but it was a poor nedved who played "against" him. In the NT match though, it will be Ribery who will be playing on his side, with abidal guarding the back. So its gona be a lot harder for foggia to shine.

DONEadoni isnt the right man for the job, and unfortunately for us, it will take a loss to France and a poor performance against Ukraine for our idiots running the FIGC to realize this...

by that time we may well be our of contention to reach the Euro's

against France? This isn't just another euro qualifer, we need to win and that lineup won't cut it. Why wouldn't you include a cdm when we have 2 of the best in the world? I think this lineup would be a lot better:

    --------------------------Toni-----------------------

    -------DP-----------------------quag's/cammo----

    --------------------------pirlo------------------------
    -------------gattuso------------de rossi------------

    ----zambo---------------------------------oddo----

Yeah, you're right. I only picked Foggia because Camo wasn't fit enough to start for Juve this weekend. If he's ready to go he should definitely start.

If Toni is ready he has to start as well and I'd pick DP over Di Natale and Quagliarella in a game of this magnitude, although DN, Quag and Foggia bring raw pace to the equation which is always nice to have in a tough game.

Azzurri: Don calls in Panucci Sunday 2 September, 2007

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Christian Panucci and Cristiano Lucarelli have been given an Azzurri recall for the Euro 2008 games against France and Ukraine.

The Roma defender has not received a call to the Italy squad since a 2-1 win over Bulgaria on June 22, 2004, but was brought back after Alessandro Nesta’s retirement and injuries to Marco Materazzi and Fabio Cannavaro.

Although Cannavaro is in the squad, he is not 100 per cent fit after sustaining an ankle injury in training with Real Madrid.

Luca Toni is also struggling to recover from a muscular strain, but is in the side for these two crunch matches.

So Shakhtar Donetsk centre-forward Lucarelli is drafted in by Coach Roberto Donadoni, having previously earned just two caps in friendly games.

Pasquale Foggia receives his first senior Italy call after his sublime performance for Cagliari against Juventus this afternoon.

Italy face Group B leaders France at San Siro on September 8 and play Ukraine away on September 12. It will be a homecoming for Lucarelli, who now plies his trade in the Ukrainian League.

Italy squad: Abbiati (Atletico Madrid), Amelia (Livorno), Buffon (Juventus), Barzagli (Palermo), F Cannavaro (Real Madrid), Chiellini (Juventus), Gamberini (Fiorentina), Grosso (Lyon), Oddo (Milan), Panucci (Roma), Zambrotta (Barcelona), Ambrosini (Milan), Aquilani (Roma), Camoranesi (Juventus), De Rossi (Roma), Foggia (Cagliari), Gattuso (Milan), Perrotta (Roma), Pirlo (Milan), Del Piero (Juventus), Di Natale (Udinese), F Inzaghi (Milan), C Lucarelli (Shakhtar Donetsk), Quagliarella (Udinese), Toni (Bayern Munich).

Well done to Giorgio, he deserves it.
    Lucarelli again :wallbang:
But Foggia is a good idea. He should get some minutes against France.

rosina or montolivo would of been a better idea. Also I would of called up miccoli seeing as how he has been playing great. The guy deserves a chance. We were stupid not to keep him.

I hope he plays it like this:
    Buffon

    Zambrotta/Oddo_Canna_Barzaglie_Zambrotta/Panucci

    Gattuso
    Camo_Pirlo_ De rossi

    Di Natale
    Toni

I dont know how is Grosso doing in Lyon so..,Alex,Inzagui orQuagliarella & Aquialani should be involved in the 2nd half.

F*** France. a bunch of whinning sore losers.
France will eat those pretty long haired Italian defensive cunts for breakfast, just like in September. (3 - 1)

Prepare for an even worse humiliation and handing back the World Champion crown to the real owners a.k.a. France. WOLRD AND EUROPEAN CHAMPION at the same time.

yes i admit it was a pathetic performance from the Azzurri.. the French werent so convincing either, they could only score by a dirty, sly free kick from Henry. :disagree:
    I don´t care.

The only thing what counts is the official match between those two. And I assure you, Italy will not get away with it like they did in Berlin. They are going down this time. :agree:
