[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]Azzurri boss Roberto Donadoni hopes that team spirit will be the crucial factor when his side face Hungary in Budapest on Wednesday night.

Italy’s preparations for their vital September Euro 2008 qualifiers against France and Ukraine will be hindered by a lack of match fitness given the late start to the 2007-08 Serie A campaign.

However, Donadoni has the chance to see his squad in action against Hungary in the first test since Francesco Totti and Alessandro Nesta officially announced their retirements from international football.

“I have a united group and we want to continue where we left off, even though the squad is in a very different physical condition to when we played Lithuania in June,” the ex-Livorno tactician stated.

“Hungary are always a difficult side to face, but I’m sure that we can get an excellent result just as we will in our games against France and Ukraine.”

Donadoni looks set to play a 4-2-3-1 formation at the Ferenc Puskas Stadium and is said to be ready to select Fabio Quagliarella in place of Alessandro Del Piero.

Italy (probable): Buffon; Oddo, Cannavaro, Materazzi, Zambrotta; Gattuso, Aquilani, Pirlo, Quagliarella, Inzaghi; Toni

Gattuso out of Hungary test Wednesday 22 August, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gennaro Gattuso is out of this evening’s international friendly with Hungary after suffering a muscular problem.

The Milan midfielder pulled up during training with a twinge in his thigh and it is highly unlikely he will be risked for this Italy test.

It’s believed his place in Budapest will be taken by Rossoneri teammate Massimo Ambrosini, flanking Andrea Pirlo in a 4-2-3-1 system.

Alessandro Del Piero is tipped to start in the supporting trident with Fabio Quagliarella and Roma debutant Alberto Aquilani behind Bayern Munich sensation Luca Toni.

This is the final Azzurri match before the crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against France on September 8 at San Siro.

Italy (probable): Buffon; Oddo, Cannavaro, Materazzi, Zambrotta; Ambrosini, Pirlo; Quagliarella, Aquilani, Del Piero; Toni
