Empoli President Corsi confirmed that he his pleased with the work done so far and believes that the team can still improve from a technical point of view.

“We renewed the Coach’s deal because we are happy with what he has done in the past year and a half,” said the chief to ‘Datasport.’

“We are confident that we can do even better. The group is fairly young, but now we must focus on the present. There are still 10 matches to play before the end of the season and we can fight for what would be a historic result for this club.”

Corsi was also questioned on Sergio Almiron, who has been paired with a summer move and is a reportedly target for Inter and Juventus.

The player had already received offers last year and he obviously hopes to land an important club. Aside from that, we are not planning any revolutions, we want to make the most of our younger players who can still do well here for another year,” concluded the Empoli chief.

We might ship De Ceglie and Marchisio on a co-ownership deal + $$$ for him. Damn co-ownerships!!!
Fundementally I hate the co-ownership deals as well, but in this situation it's not that bad. It helps convincing Empoli a lot to give us Almiron, as they get players in return. A loan deal is always somewhat unappealing and a co-ownership deal a little less so. Though they get two players, in the end we don't lose either De Ceglie or Marchisio. Loaning them out gives them valuable playing time and experience. Financially and alure-wise Empoli can't compete with us anyway so if either player amounts to anything we can still easily get them back.

yeah but if we want them back and they play well we'll have another Criscito fiasco.
I'd loan them for a couple of years and that's it and pay Almiron the full price(7m?).

If we settle a price of the co-ownership in our favor then it's another story.

is this almiron player really much better than marchisio?
now yes but potentially Marchisio could become much better.

We all know that Almiron is a Veron type player. From what I saw is that he's not that fast but he's not slow...he's got a great shot from distance(we miss that)...does a decent job at defending and distributes the ball quite well.

Marchisio and De Ceglie will probably get limited playing time next season anyway. If these two are on the clubs list of loans, then it doesnt matter, the deal shoudl be done. I would personally rather give them another player outright..maybe Tacchinardi for example and see if they would accept that, as well as Tacchinardi of course.

I don't mind having a Veron type player provided we have a good partner next to him, and a really fast and creative winger/s and a playmaker.

Let's not forget we still have Zanetti and Paro, possibly Tacchinardi if he does stay this time around...Diarra and a few other DM have been rumoured also. Maybe it is best to put Marchisio in the deal.

u can't compare marchisio to any1.
he didn't play much and we couldn't test his qualities.
we should loan him to some seria a club like udinese, atalanta, sampdoria, empoli
mid table teams that doesnt have much pressure as the big teams or the small teams to fight for their life.

Almiron To Juve? Don't Be So Sure Yet...-Agent

Last week former Juve great Ciro Ferrara revealed to Sky Italy that Empoli’s Almiron had already signed for the Bianconeri. In an exclusive chat with Goal.com the player’s agent denied Ferrara’s insider.

“I can’t confirm what Ferrara said. Almiron reads the papers and knows that there is this chance. Juventus are a great team, but other destinations are appreciated by the player as well,” Claudio Vagheggi told Goal.com.

“Inter, Milan, Juventus, Roma, Lazio, Palermo, and Fiorentina are all teams my player would consider to join,” he added.

Of the teams mentioned above, Fiorentina are the ones most contending the Brazilian’s services with Juventus, in this decision making time for the player.

Almiron is rated at around 10 million Euros.

I think for his price Almiron would be a great buy. We can bring in Gerrard or Deco or someone like that not playing in the CL .. nor do we have the money to do so with so much squad rebuilding to do.

But Almiron partnered with Gilberto would be a top class central mid who will be very low cost for the ammount of quality

Gilberto costs next to nothing from what i hear (1.7 million pounds?)

... Even though Gilberto does not have many years ahead of him we only really need 2 or 3 from him before our team is back at the top and we are in the CL and can buy a top player to replace him.

I thik they would be great togeather. Both are composed and Gilberto can defend awesome (as he does for arsenal when the whole team go forward) then start attacks by winning the ball then playing it to a creative player .. Almiron has a great passing range and is not a liability in regards to defence.

I think this Mid partnership would be at the same level as the other top serie A teams and with Zanetti, Paro and Tacchi would be enough to do well throughout the year with no CL
