Numbers & letters in arabic posts..!! (1 Viewer)

I noticed some members feel uncomfprtable with numbers inserted in words in arabic posts..
(like: kaif 7alik.. sho a5barek.. 3yonik 7elwa..)

I'll explain why we use them and what does they mean..

we use them becoz there are some letters in arabic that can not be pronounced or written in english.. so, we use some numbers that look like those letters in arabic..(the same shape)

someone may ask, "why don't you write in arabic instead of english..you do have arabic keyboards??) don't you??"

becoz some arabic people(myself included) are used to type in english at college/work.. so its hard to type in any other language.. for example; I type an english essay of 500 words in about 3 minutes.. but to write the essay in arabic letters, I'll take 20 minutes!! it's just I'm not used to it..

ahhh thanks for the explanation I've always wondered how in blue hell u can manage to standardise a language into numbers for computer use

coz of these numbers it takes me ages 2 read arabic english

Add to this, there are more Arabic characters on the keyboard than English, we have like 39 characters *wow...I didn't know that...* i just counted them.*

ok.. this is only for arab people.. non-arab won't understand it.. so don't bother..

1 = not used
2 = alef (first letter in arabic alphabits..
3 = ain (al Ain club = Al 3ain club
4 = not used
5 = kha (Ras al khaimah = ras al 5aimah)
6 = tta2 not T though.. its hard to explain.. well, its the 16th letter in arabic alphabits..
7 = like mohammad = mo7ammad
8 = not used
9 = sad.. like morning = 9aba7

I hope you can understand it..
