I only recall his spat with Guy Lacombe but he was absolute class at Rennes, not sure if he messed up with the NT. He displayed some excellent skill & precision passing, really good vision along with a good defensive work rate. Rennes had numerous lucrative offers but they were greedy & rejected them, eventually the hype died down along with the offers. Either way the guy has immense talent & under the right guidance he would shine IMO. Conte certainly fits the bill but I'm pretty sure Mazzarri would ruin his career.
The talent is undeniable although these issues may have stalled his development as a player - a 10 mil price-tag speaks of pretty pedestrian output at Rubin, not that I have watched any of their games :p.
IIrc, his "problems with coaches" involved late nights/early mornings at bars and such, and not only, raising questions about maturity and dedication and those would and likely were turn offs for many teams. Sure the guy is still young and can grow out of this but he better already be on that track 'cause it ain't easy restarting a stalled career or changing perceptions.

Guess would have to prove himself before getting another shot with a big team. Problem could be with him being in sort of a no-man's land right now, I think - too expensive for smaller teams, too much history with character concerns for a bigger team to wanna take a chance on him. Eventually he should get his chance - too talented not to - but he better make the most of it.

:agree: if there ever was a player worth an entire team on his own ...

Spot on, looks like the russian league has stunted his growth as a player. Either way he's got a lot of work to do & he'll have to be humble for whichever team he joins next because it will be the defining point in his career.

If he does join inter, he is doomed.:D

Gazzetta says that Napoli has received their first offer for Higuain. 55mln

lol

(and it seems that Napoli is asking for 70)
Napoli are gonna milk it to the extreme and I wouldn't be surprised if Barca were to accept their demands. No worries, since Rafa will bring 7-8 mediocre Spanish players for that sum, that won't even slightly improve current team.

I don't get why they want him in the first place, Messi wants to play in the center and Enrique also said that he doesn't plan to move him away from the there. On the other hand Messi seems to want Higuain at Barca.

Unless they plan something stupid to play him as a winger, or use him as a back-up which wouldn't make sense at all, it's a stupid deal looking no matter how you look at it.

maybe more of a 4-2-3-1 with Messi as a trequartista?
