Javi Martinez to Bayern Munich

Bayern are going to pay €40m for him(essentially his buyout clause). Also Javi Martinez accepted a pay cut of €2m for his 5 year contract,so that he cost Bayern €10m less in the end hence Bayern were able to meet the €40m buyout clause..

I think this is Bayern's record transfer signing now beating Gomez's signing.

Yep, got to break the bank for great players.

If you have money, better spend it on some great players.

Bayern still needs a CB, i don't trust that Boateng, Badstuber partenrship.

that's beyond insane ... won't believe it unless officially announced, though - Bayern tend to be smart in their financial operations and this wreaks of stupidity from a mile :p

Martinez is a pretty good player but that's about it - hardly worth more than 15-17 mil and offers little more than a number of others can bring to the team - a 9-10 mil Paulinho from Corinthians to name one. And would still have plenty left for a top-notch CB (not hard to find a better CB than JM), and possibly with some change on the side.

Also, this pay-cut of 2 mil looks rather suspicious too; how much was he getting paid at Bilbao - 6/7 mil to be able to afford that? Doubt that very much, tbh.

Didn't they spunk €35m on Mario Gomez? Around €25m each on Ribery, Neuer and Robben as well I'd say.

This is quite sensible for a club this size, one a summer average, it's the sort of thing I'd hope Juve could do by next summer after a CL campaign.

Considering todays prices, I don't think 40mln for Javi is TOO MUCH. I do think it's much, but seeing other players' value, not so much. Anyway, I think he's a great player and can be a hell of a move if they pull it off.
