Mihajlovic turns down Inter

Despite earlier reports, Fiorentina appear to have taken Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic off the market, so Inter turn to Andre Villas-Boas.
The tactician was the hot favourite to replace Leonardo at the club where he was already a player and assistant manager to Roberto Mancini.

The Corriere dello Sport website even insisted Mihajlovic would be unveiled by Inter on Monday.

However, on Friday evening Fiorentina sources confirmed the Coach would be staying for the 2011-12 season.

For a while the news agencies all over Italy claimed a Press release was imminent to confirm this, but it seems they have chosen not to make such a formal stand.

It represents a surprise, as Mihajlovic is not particularly popular among the Viola supporters.

This represents the second snub for Inter, as Marcelo Bielsa already turned down the job “due to personal reasons.”

General manager Ernesto Paolillo told Bloomberg: "Leonardo has left Inter and is heading to Paris. We are now looking for a new Coach."

Now the options are limited, so it’s reported the Nerazzurri could attempt to prise Villas-Boas away from Europa League winners Porto.

It won’t be easy, as the 33-year-old Portuguese tactician is also of interest to Chelsea.

As for Porto, he has a €15m buy-out clause in his contract, but that would be void if the club sold star striker Falcao.

Therefore, if Inter were to spend the money on Falcao, they’d effectively save on breaking Villas Boas out of his contract too.

It's fairly prickish behaviour from Leonardo to announce his departure when he did.

Anyone can decide he wants to move clubs, but he's put Inter in a more difficult situation by not making the decision right at the end of the season.

Paolillo (Inter director) told Bloomberg: "Leonardo is going to Paris and the club is looking for a new coach. We wanted to keep him but he has decided to leave us."

Leonardo left :agree:

Got DS job in PSG, wanted to follow his heart.
Also I read someone saying that he felt the Milan-rivalry got much more violent after he joined Inter, so he wanted to leave.

I wonder if he think these past six months are worth ruining his relationship with the Milan-fans since what, 12-13 years?
