The thing with Porto is that their scouts are great and they play in an average/low quality league.

They get decent/good players and the occasional one with "WC" potential, those players then proceed to tear shit up domestically, destroying teams like paços Ferreira and Rio Ave and letting them get inflated numbers of assists and goals thus inflating their prices.

Oh look! This guy hulk (for example) scored 293628 goals but 75% of them were against shit teams. most people only care about the numbers rather than the context, so instead of paying 20-25 million for a player like Hulk they pay close to 50m because he scored a shitload of goals.
And when he leaves he keeps doing the same job. You make it sound like they flop as soon as they leave Porto since they played in a shit league and against shit opponents but that's not the case. They actually produced many WC players that play in top clubs.

:agree: thats true, people are talking about Porto Players as if they're horrible once they leave there but thats not the case.

Falcoa is indeed a top striker and he's price tag (around 40 mil) seems resonable considering his talent and eye for goals. Hulk is too pretty talented player, Perhaps his price is a bit off but still the guy is a class (reminds of a young Adriano).

Not only Porto, the same story goes for Benfica they found David Luiz in the 3rd division in Brazil ffs and sold him for big bucks later.

They do, but for example, a guy like Moutinho is not worth the £25m they were asking for him. He's 15-18m at max but he plays for Porto so his value increases.

Falcao for example if he wasn't playing for Porto he could've gone for around 25-30m but Porto sold for 40, it was kind of a panic buy by Atletico, they had just sold Aguero and needed a replacement ASAP.

They (some) are great yes, but the League and club They play for inflates their value.

Is it only legal in Italy? I'm surprised that not many smaller teams have done this when selling their younger players to better team. A good season in a good team could lead to so much more money a year later.
