Well, they paid £11m for Emile Heskey in 2000, I think that says it all. But if you look over the last 10-15 years of PL history there are some shocking fees for English players.
Exactly the same in Italy, I have listed them in another thread (maybe this one, not sure)

Balance is needed, when saying things like this.

Italian football started all thsi stupid transfer fee bollocks anyway!!!

What ?I think he's a pretty talented player..Better than most of the young English overhyped talents bar Wilshere..
Without even playing a minute of Elite league football ?? You know this ?? !!

He could get injured....stop developing, loss interest etc.

I honestly beleive that at Everton, we have a player that could be one of the best midfielders England has seen for decades, yet he could just be another Leon Osman. We just dont know yet !

Off the top of my head..Most of them in that list were overpaid transfers in my opinion..Dint include the likes of Buffon,Vieri and Nesta in the list.

But Destro wasn't paid 19mln, it's wrong to put it that way. But yes, some of those are pathetic too, but English transfers are much worse.

That is exactly the same for the English transfers, Darren Bent was £14 million down, thats for example.

How much was Amauri ?? Iaquinta ?? Melo ??

Some of the other transfers Italian Clubs have paid, are staggering also. Medieta ?? Cladio Lopez ?? Adriano, Vieri, Lentini, That Brazilian to Roma, Fabio Junior was it ??

Crespo, Buffon, Nadved, Salas, Thuram, Cannavaro, Nesta!!!

Conceicoe (sp)!!

I think most of the Italian players are overhyped and overpriced and I've been saying that for a while now. Every DC that comes is valued 15mln+ (Bonucci, Ranocchia, Bocchetti, Astori, Criscito) which is rather pathetic. That's all because of their history and how they always had a good defense, but these names are pretty much mediocre so it's silly, yeah. Buffon, Nedved and Nesto are all amazing, not to say legends, so I have no idea what's your point there as I don't think any club regrets that money.

On the other hand, Carroll alone beats all those transfers.

Amauri was 22.5 Million!!!!

Esneider ?? Kovacavic ??

Players nationality aside, its safe to say both England and Italy have been as stupid as each other, as thes enumbers prove that.

Rio Ferdinand, Shearer and Rooney were listed in the above list. So as I said....for balance, you have to look at them all.

Agree..There have been some foreign flop/Overpriced transfers as well from Serie A teams but definitely not as much as English teams..

I think only silly transfers and chokers should be mentioned and that way I do think England has more names.

But I think we both agree that Serie A has stupid transfers as well.
