I didn't say they are doing great though, I said they are doing it right ;)
Why? They've not replaced their best players? Yes they've got some heavy earners off the wage bill but they've not been replaced well.

They're hoping gambles pay off and if they don't Roma are in serious trouble.

Why? Because they sold before they started buying and they just started.

They are making a foundation this year and they are focusing on quantity. They wanted to keep Vucinic, Menez and Mexes but it's the players who wanted to leave, so no, it wasn't really their 'tactical move'. And yea, I still believe they will be top 3 in a couple of years, not this season, this season they might reach 5th or something.

And yes, Sabatini > Marotta

Roma are doing it right it seems, they sold their unwanted players and started to sign now. We are still signing and not able to offload our players. Soon it will be loaning out and panick buys.
Compare selling Menez & Vucinic to selling Amauri & Iaquinta.

It's impossible. Roma sold them because they couldn't keep them, they wanted out. Sabatini tried to make them stay but they insisted on leaving.

They also had difficult period getting rid of the likes of Doni, sending him on a free transfer while paying some his wages.

GdS and others:

Within the next couple of days, most likely Friday, Lille is expected to accept Arsenal's offer of 30 mil for Hazard.
