Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie has urged his teammates to trust in new boss Luigi Del Neri.
“Mister Del Neri is the right man at the right time,” said the almost 34-year-old. “If we follow him then we can only do well – it’s now up to us.”
Del Neri was appointed by the Turin giants this summer after guiding Sampdoria into the Champions League last season.
Juventus, on the other hand, had a disastrous campaign under firstly Ciro Ferrara and then Alberto Zaccheroni.
“I have great belief in the methods of the Coach and how he works,” said Legrottaglie, a man who played under Del Neri for two seasons at Chievo.
“If a player does not believe in a project then it is like wearing a 50kg weight on your leg, if you believe then the weight becomes lighter,” he added.
“Last year we took a thrashing, but now we have the right mentality to start again.”
Legrottaglie is expected to only be a reserve this season given that the club’s first choice centre-back pairing should consist of Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini.
