Zaniolo was 20 years old when he tore his ACL, and as a 20 year old he did become a starter in Roma and did break into the senior national team. What more can be hoped for at that age?

He would definitely have been a 100m player on that trajectory. We have Chiesa as great talent and player, but at that point Zaniolo was the biggest outfield talent in the country.

Giovinco long ago and Berardi after him also had a lot of hype, before injury Zaniolo was an exciting talent and not much else. You can rate exciting talent in any kind of order you want, but for all the Chiesas who fulfill the potential there're 5 other guys who dont. The only way someone like Zaniolo wouldve went for 100m was if there were crazy conditions such as in the Dembele to Barca deal.

We're retarded if we pay 60m for this guy and push out a legend of the club in the process.

The mistake wasn’t signing Higuain. It was dumping him for Ronaldo. That was a tici move as from what I remember Marotta didn’t want to sign Ronaldo.
