Sorry, Burke. The anal scientist (I don't want to think too much about that term ;)) comes out in me once in a while and I end up sounding like Cliff Claven on "Cheers"... :geek:

Interesting to say the least. I assume Holland has about the same climate as the Northwestern United States, so having a late November snowstorm is a bit early indeed. And considering Holland has the North Sea to the West, the warmer sea water must keep the temperatures a bit higher on the mainland, thus reducing the possibility of frozen precipitation.
I have no idea what the climate in the Northwestern US is, but we *never* have snow blizzards. Summers are cool; with temperatures around 25 Celsius, winters are mild with temperatures usually between 0 and 5 Celsius. Rain is very frequent during autumn and winters, as are storms with wind (and rain) but it only snows perhaps 2 or 3 days per year. And that's in the east.

You didn't have one now either. From what I've seen most people are shocked we couldn't deal with this "blizzard" and not because of Mother Nature's force.

But of course that doesn't explain the very odd weather we've been having the past years. I don't think anyone knows what's going on with our climate -and we can't know if it's going to be dangerous either- but it's quite obvious something isn't the same.

I did come to two rational conclusions:

a) It was nowhere near a blizzard and what was truly shocking was that we couldn't deal with a bit of snow.

b) Something is obviously wrong with our climate.

Climates do change over time on their own or with a little help. Our leaders tell us the is normal and that everything is going be A OK. :weee:

PS. A sick feeling creeps into my stomach as Bobby McFerren sings Don't Worry Be Happy into my ear.

It was a storm (hurricane winds were measured at Hoek van Holland) and it came with snow. What would you call it? :D

The only thing we can conclude for now is that our climate has been experiencing some strange weather over the past few years. We haven't had this weather long enough to be able to speak of a changing climate.

Come on, Erik, what kind of pussy blizzard was it then?

Somehow that reminds me of The Simpsons in Australia:
"Do you call that a knife? THIS is a knife."
"Ehm, that's a spoon."

The only nations that should have snow every once in a while are Austria and Italy, because that's were I go skiing. Other than that I'd like to stay as far as possible from that messy substance.

Fine, tough guy. But they don't get worse in our part of the world so we might as well use the biggest word.

Yeah well you try to live beneath sea level when hurricane winds and pounding seas are battering the coast line
