bad imitation of American baseball if you asked me !!!:D:D
A sport that can be traced back to hundreds of years before your nation was even founded is an imitation of a recently developed sport that it has virtually no similarity to ??

Yea... Ok

I was told that Cricket was wildly popular in India and Pakistan, and I found that to be true. I was told that Cricket was a passion in the West Indies, but I found merely that some folks liked to play it and some folks liked to watch it, but it was not the obsession I had heard about. So, what says Mother England?

It has suddenly become a passion now (like rugby some years back) because they have actually won something...

What does that mean, exactly?
The rate of change of topic in this thread is staggering. Each time I come here they are talking of something very different, and sadly, most of the active participants here are from a timezone that is well away from mine, so I tend to miss a lot of the action.

Has it occurred to you that it could actually be just a coincidence?

Anyways, in support of Paul here, most American sports are cheap imitations...

Basketball....Netball
Football...Rugby
Baseball...Cricket
Ice Hockey...Field Hockey

What are you on about... Cricket and rugby have allways been massively popular here, and allways will be....

You do realise that cricket is actually our national sport ??

Of course football has surpassed it in the popularity stakes in recent years, but it is still our national game and is massively popular...

Theres not many greens around the land where you wont see cricket played in the summer months

Baseball is actually an alternative version of rounders not cricket
