Paul, I see a big difference between benign statements like when you said "the English are not bigots, we only hate the French" and giving a list of all the things disgusting about the French people. Big difference indeed.

It is well known that England and France have animosity, so I guess you are expected to hate each other. This is part of your historical culture. But when somebody starts to add specifics, it is no longer historical, cultural or funny. So, when I call out Jae it is absolutely proper.

Allright, I just get back from the American Egotistical Idiots Convention, where I had to brush my hair repeatedly so that there was enough oil to make Pasta al Oglio while groping some British chicks at the same time, and this is the kind of sterotypical drivel that I come back to???

Oh, the bigotry.

If I could, I'd fly to London and punch you all in the teeth, except for the fact that it might actually improve all of your dental structures :D

"Well, it's hard to say where a man goes wrong, might be here and it might be there.
What starts out weak might get too strong, if you can't tell foul from fair.
But it's hard to judge from an angry throng of hands stretched into the air.
So all you critics sit alone. Youre no better than me for what youve shown."

Neil Young said that.

You spend time in London bars degrading women? If not then this is irrelevent.

Though I guess I could always mentioned the outside influence factor. ;)

No. When Im in a foreign country I try not to give a too shitty image of myself and adapt to the people instead of waiting for them to adapt to me. I don’t push ladies and even less curse at them. I talk to them, try to listen, make them laugh and be nice. In fact I kinda dig English chicks, especially their accent no matter how sexed up it is, and I think they don't dislike me in return. I would never spit at them either : if I am lucky I'll spit inside them (ok bad pun). And this isn’t irrelevant because thats’what most of us are like. You may have dealt with some class A cretins, and we do have plenty of those too, but I have to wonder if there hasn't been a communication problem between you as well. Maybe if Emma really likes me I can take her out next time Im in London and she’ll tell you if I passed the test.

I haven’t been here as much as I wanted to of late but I tried to keep up with events so I noticed your appearance, and though we've never interacted so far I thought you were a cool guy. Please tell me I was right.

Be a bigot and you have to expect it back

Nuh, we let Serge say whatever the hell he wants because he's never serious anyway. And he's not a grumpy old man when the favour comes back neither; he laughed with me at the compensation car joke, for example.

Truth is, Sergio adds a much needed humorous touch to often exaggeratedly serious discussions about some bollocks subject between stuck-up individuals.

Personally, most of them discussions bore me

Serge for über-moderator! :strong:

Granted, that's all true. Next time you decide to point that out though, be careful which poster you single out by quoting(!)

Its like many northern italians say they hate southern italians... Personally i see their point... Southern italians are no where near my taste in people... whereas northern italians are some of my favourite people on this earth.
Well that’s a pity. I am a Northerner who hates those Northern Italians that are prejudiced against Southerners (and yes there are a lot of them, especially from where I come which is the heartland of Lega Nord). We treat them like garbage when they move up North for a better life yet when we spend our vacations in Puglia, Campania or Sicily they display a sense of hospitality and unselfish friendship that one can only dream of in Lombardy, Pedmont or Veneto. They also have far richer culinary traditions than in the North (bar Emilia Romagna) and the creativeness and poetry of their dialects puts any of our local talks to shame. While I’ve only been there on vacation and wouldn’t live there now for certain obvious reasons, I can easily see myself buying a nice cottage with adjacent field and orange grove in the South after I retire.

I also have to say he is in the most part correct about the way italians living in england act....
I lived for a long time in one of the largest italian communities in the uk... and most of jae's observations are spot on on first contact...
Its amazing the difference between italians here and in italy...
Especially the complete change when they realise you speak italian... and the act slides away... they have a reputation to live upto and tend to milk it as much as possible....
But then of course the same can be said about the Brits. From friendly, public-spirited and polite at home quite a few reveal a dark side when abroad, so much that they have earned a reputation which doesn’t have much to envy that of the Italians, on the contrary. While Jaecole has seen Italians behaving like that where he lives, I’ve seen English act like morons from Prague to Lisbon. Or English living abroad who don't give much of a damn about integrating (ex not speaking a word of the local language even after 5 + years in the country). I really don't get what earns us this alleged reputation tbh, because as far as Italian being on vacation in a foreign country is concerned, they seem ok with me. As for the Italians living abroad...well, only here in Brussels there must easily be 25.000 of us and the only ones who to my knowledge are behaving badly sit in the European Parliament.

Kaiser,
Did I say that about all Italians? No. Didn't I specifically point out whom I was referring to?

Problem here is too many are always waiting to pull the trigger. Though some like Nick, are prepared to twist the shit out of things to 'win'. Let's see if he replies to the posts on his own 'racism' with Don Bes for example. Where is the difference?

Seriously, it dosen't matter this much. If you don't like it, get over it. I have never, not once been offended by stereotyping or foreign views. It's irrelevent to what I'm doing from day to day.
