That said, some of the best places in Rome use either Illy or there own 'mix' (roast) but always with illy in the picture. Personally, I find lavazza over-rated (especially the red label) which seems to be the choice for most 'yuppies' who think they are 'hip' when they purchase it.
Hey -- didn't realize you were in San Mateo before...

My favorite Rome establishment is one of my favorites in the world, Sant'Eustachio Il Caffe. You have to sit among the well-heeled Carabinieri, and it costs a fortune, but damn it's good...

Tazza d'Oro is pretty good too. But neither use Illy or Lavazza. While Illy has great quality control for consistency, and they and Lavazza do well to package the stuff, you cannot get around the fact that the stuff arrives a good 1-2 weeks older than something produced by a local roaster. And if you're making espresso that good among Italian perfectionists, the freshness makes a real difference.

Contrast with SF where the Illy arrives in cans from stuff roasted over a month ago, and it's just not quite there.

Btw, Lavazza is starting to open branded cafes across the U.S. I was in the one in downtown Chicago last spring. They don't compare to, say San Tommaso in Torino (the birthplace of Lavazza), but they beat the average *$s, IMO.

Nick, it's me who defends Emma, not the other way around.

But before you start again, let me point this out, maybe it wasn't clear last time.

You posted a picture of Vieri and pretended it was you because the other males where getting all the Emma love.

That's all I need to see. I don't even want to start thinking about the PM thing. It's your forum experience, do it whatever way you want ;).

Say hello to your 'brother' for me.

Well done Libero and Nick, as I applaud your efforts in fighting the completely unsolicitated bigotry that finds its way in here.

Oh come off it ,Robert...

You know as well as i do that this has been going on for ages... Especially against american and english people....
The insults people place at people because they are english or american on this forum is fvcking disgraceful and allways has been...

As for congratulating Nick and Libero for doing exactly the same in return... Sorry but thats completely lame and immature...

You dont stop this bigotry by becoming one yourself.

People also forget that when they direct nationalistic remarks at one person they are also insulting everyone else of thet nationality... whether they intended to or not

@ Jae Cole - You know I gave Burke shit for his racist rant, even though it was all too predictable. But what the Fvck are you on about? This crap is out of character for you, so I am a bit shocked. Please don't bring that shit back here again.
Whilst slightly surprised by jae's post... i dont see where he attacked 'italians' in general... He clearly stated he was talking about italians he had met that lived within britain... Its not the same thing....

Its like many northern italians say they hate southern italians... Personally i see their point... Southern italians are no where near my taste in people... whereas northern italians are some of my favourite people on this earth.

I also have to say he is in the most part correct about the way italians living in england act....
I lived for a long time in one of the largest italian communities in the uk... and most of jae's observations are spot on on first contact...
Its amazing the difference between italians here and in italy...
Especially the complete change when they realise you speak italian... and the act slides away... they have a reputation to live upto and tend to milk it as much as possible....

Italians in america i also find completely different to those in italy... though actually probably slightly friendlier...

Though i was amazed recently, when in an italian restraunt in new york with a sicilian friend of mine who doesnt speak english...
All the staff were italian... yet he ordered in italian they jus gave him blank stares... He thought it was maybe his sicilian they didnt understand... so i ordered.. again in italian and again to blank stares...
Resulting in me spending the whole evening translating everything into english for him... Something we had hoped t avoid by going to an italian place...

That drifted wildly off topic... but you see what im getting at

I see what your getting at...and I see what Jae was getting at. HOWEVER, as I stated before in a CRYSTAL CLEAR fashion which I will re-iterate once again:

Yes, Italians JAE has come across in Leichester Square or Picadilly Circus or in the hot spots of Chelsea are arrogant, pedestal standing crass arsehole's with no respect for English women. Fine, this is not a generalization but a 'slice of Jae's world' (what he sees). So I ask:
What does one's physical appearance: Greasy hair and dark/oily skin have to do with anything?
You remarked on how they act. Fine. What the fvck does physical attributes have to do with anything?
    EXAMPLE (once again):
The immigrants from Senegal in Italy who sell knock off Prada, Louis Vuitton and Versace are rude/cause trouble at night and pile up in the slums causing areas to become run-down. Fine, thats an opinion based on someone who is only exposed to these type of Senegalese individuals. What would be the point of adding to that..they think they are at home with their "dark skin, dirty hair and bodily odors".
The difference is nothing at all...they are both racist comments. I don't have a problem with the way you summarized Italians you see in London...I had a problem with the way you degraded individuals because of physical attributes...
that is RACISM and bigotry...pure and simple.

PAUL, you were running a whole other argument ... I KNOW you understand what I am saying.

Secondly, the other males sought this 'EMMA-LOVE' since the moment she arrived while I was on her bad side from the moment she arrived because I could 'care less'. That picture was posted a YEAR after she arrived....if I wanted EMMA-LOVE it would have been long ago...but I'm not that pathetic in that way..
    but I digress.

Greg your on a whole different level of expertise than me with espresso...(!) Sant-Eustachio is a place I frequented when I didn't live in Rome....since I have been living in Rome I stayed away only because it is close to Piazza Navona and a 'tourist-zone'. However, the espresso still stands its ground.
My local 'shop' in my area claims he uses Illy...but he may just say it to get free Illy 'stuff' (collector sets, etc).
By the way, dare I ask but: what machine do you have at home?
I remember seeing a Gaggia or was it Pavoni model a year or so ago that was basically a manual maker...are those any good?

    Don't misquote me.

I guess they just expect to turn up and have English girls form beg to let them suck their cock because they have a fag accent and greesy hair and skin.
I said that for effect obviously.

And because they do actually have greasy slicked back hair, are usually sweating like a pig and sex up the accent.

I don't see a problem with it really, if you are offended that's unfortunate for you.

Now where did I say 'dark'? You have no point, unless you are trying to prove you misunderstood. Nothing racist about that comment at all.

No that was other pictures. This one you actually posted and pretended it was you in a hotel with some hotel staff. You asked for opinions on the picture etc. But whatever, I don't even care. Just don't see the need for you to keep b'itching about Emma's life. It's childish.

Its quite funny that you played the victim about being beat up by jocks and then give them a 'tsk tsk' remark about being 'dumb' and hate filled inviduals when you make comments like this...

P.S. Read some posts...I'm not the only one that finds your supposed 'un racist' remarks absurd....everyone from Blonde Americans to Africans to Latin Americans find it disgusting....for the record, posters who usually avoid talking to me..guess they and I found a common ground...

No, actually I asked whether they thought it was me or Vieri because:
    1. Someone had posted my pic and made a Vieri reference.
    2. The likes of Burke and Andy were going on with the Vieri joke.

Emma. If you defend comments like these your simply: full of shite......kid."

    Taadaa!!!

I wont defend him, hes a bastard. Though why get offended with this when the Banjoboy, Immigrant Don Bes and Limey whore Claire jokes are ok? Im pretty sure Don was as offended as you are with Jaes comment.

And come on, its not like he said Italians were all a bunch of whinny little mummies boys who are partial to a bit of balloney every now and then :D

You can be offended unless you are Kaiser Franco, I like him :D

Absolutely nothing... That is of copurse completely wrong and something I , probably above anyone else here has argued against over the years on this forum...
However... when i look around this forum, most of the anti english posts revolve around physical attributes.... Maybe now you see why i have been so fvcked off by this shit in the past...

Many many members here have made personal attacks on english people for said things rather than the way they act, experience etc etc...

And that you must admit, Nick.. includes your good self

Two wrongs don't make a right....

More importantly, not my style to go off an English group (be it holligans, tourists whatever) and then follow it up with a shot at their physical attributes...
    why...because I'm a not a bigot.

Well the rest I don't even know what your talking about to be honest.
