Beware if you're a first-timer in London, Nick. The town goes dry at 11pm. There are few stranger experiences than walking down the Piccadilly Circus or Leicester Square area at 11pm when everyone does an urgent downing of five consecutive beers and stumbles out in the streets at the same time.
Thats rubbish,,, outside of a tube or cab you can get anything you want in town til at least 4

and since when do refs have their names behind their jerseys!
I actually think having the name on the collar looks kinda cool. Why don't players have that?

Nearby Regent's Park is pretty cool if you're into the outdoor park walk thing. The area just south of the Thames (and east up until about the Tower Bridge) is what's building up and getting all chic now with restaurants and clubs, so that might be worth checking out.

London's a great city, IMO. Expensive as all hell, but great nonetheless. Find yourself some good Bengali food (pretty much the city's official cuisine these days) while you're at it...
THANKS (correction) Greg. My only experience with London is stop-overs at Heathrow. I was under the impression it was like Rome: so much to see with so little time. I prefer walking around town and seeing the city in that way.
By the way, while on the topic of cities, one of my fav. places is your location: San Fran. Does that Italian restaurant/cafe still exists...Spanish Steps I think it is?
Last time I was there it was one of the only places to catch a soccer game. The "old school" places in North Beach had canoli's, espresso et al. but didn't televise the matches.

Paul: thanks for your bit. I didn't think you hung around the 'tourist' places...thanks anyways.
By the way, is Harrods all its 'hyped' up to be?

If this isn't a rhetorical question, it's because the commentators and, more importantly, the crowd will not be able to see the name.

You never explained how YOU BECAME a Juve fan or soccer fan Andy
    Alright Nick.

It all started back in 1994 during the World Cup here in the states. I watched some games on television, especially the US and also Italy because they usually showed their games. I started to become a fan of the Azzurri in their run up to the Final, and I became a huge fan of Roby Baggio after that brilliant Bulgaria match. That was the start of my "liking" for Italian soccer.

After that I sort of forgot about trying to watch soccer and I only played the sport during that time until the next WC in France. That season before the WC in the summer I watched my first European club match, the CL Final between Real Madrid and Juventus. Even though Juventus lost the match I became a fan because I liked how Juve played and enjoyed watching the likes of Zidane and Del Piero. I did not like Real at all after that match, even though I didn't really know much about either team at the time. THAT rules out the possibility of me being a GLORY HUNTER.

Then at the WC in France I was able to watch the masterclass performances of Zidane and once again Roby Baggio. Both of those players were easily my favorite and they had one thing in common; they both played for Juventus. So with Zidane being my favorite player, and Juventus being the first European club I was able watch, I became a Juve fan. Pretty simple really.

The two years after the WC I didn't follow Juve that much however they still were my favorite team even though I never got to watch them. Around 2000 was when I really started to follow Juve because of the internet. It was the start of a beautiful thing..

And how did I become a soccer fan? I have played the sport since I was five and still play it today. By far my favorite pastime.

Museums...if I had more time....unless its really something I am into.
Well the London musuems are the best in the UK imo. So if you do like that don't miss them. Taxi it around and you can do everything in a day.
Nightclubs: ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh nah....I want to see what the PUB SCENE is all about..or rather..I prefer
Like all of the UK bars and clubs are all kind of mixed. Just hit leicester square and you'll find many bars and clubs. Depends what your into really. If your going around bars just go where you feel like, you don't have to pay to get in to the bars so just tour around.

Girls: Well I can always play the old TRICKY NICKY and pose as a footballer for free drinks :cheesy:
Your accent will probably work. I have a slight Irish accent from spending some time there and it pays off alot in this country though I haven't had good look with the London chicks, too classy :D. If you hear a Northern accent thats where you want to be ;)

CL Trophy..seen enough of that as Milan fan :cheesy:
    True. Skip that one :D

Uhmm yeah no....I don't think that would work..
she would probably SHANK (prison style with a blade) me
I don't know how she comes off on this forum, but I met Claire and Emma for a brief while in Liverpool a week or so ago. They are both really really nice classy and intelligent girls. If Claire's in London you should definately meet her. No doubt.

Avoid Harrods coffee shop at all costs. Trust me. Such a rip off.

And no the city dosen't close at 11pm. London is never dead. There is many 24hour shops and alot of shops/food places are open to atleast 3pm.

It costs much more than making a standard jersey and prinitng the name on the back. The name on the collar is stiched in the collar, not a print

Your onlly staying that because northern girls are more well known for being...how to put this nicely...loose?

Although as I have been to the north-west many times (Liverpool & Manchester mainly) its better then the south!
