when man utd are mentioned what comes to mind is 3-0 at delle alpi, 2-1 at old trafford, 1-4 in usa tour, 1-1 and 2-3 in 99. they may suck ass but that ass certainly isnt ours...
How can you count that 4-1 game in the US tour ??

Lippi didnt bring on any starters until the 72nd minute, knowing full well that in 3 days time, we were playing Milan in a REAL game (the Supercoppa)

Geez... this bullshit argument gets everywhere... Give it up

Anyway... Did anyone see the changing mosaic the viola displayed at the weekend.... Was fantastic...

If i can get hold of a scanner at the weekend i'll scan some of the wifes pictures... Brilliant

Surprisingly havent seen any mention of the incidents in firenze at the weekend or the token handful of fans that were arrested.

Andy... Im surprised you never realised that 'the urchins' are a liverpool fan group... One of the better known ones to boot.
I doubt our poster is actually a member... many people like to use fan group names as their user.
We have members here that use such names... And they clearly have little idea about the group whose name they carry... Its jus 'cool' to use those names.... Apparently

Well I think I heard that name before, just wasn't sure. Although I'm not sure if that Urchins poster is part of the group, he did post a picture of his arm with the Liverpool seal tattooed on it. To me he looks like a hardcore supporter, to the full extent of the adjective.

He couldnt even get into the lineup at Roma, but is shining at Totterham

You bring RVN or Henry(again) to Serie A, and they will be a shell of themselves
Why?
The only problems Henry had when he played for Juve was scoring goals, his finish was rubbish. He still had the pace and skill to ensure Italian defence wasnt a huge problem for him. And didnt he tear Inters defence a new asshole not along while ago?

RVN? Hes not what he used to be. But dont tell me he couldnt do for Juve what Trez does because he could no doubt.

Urchins is used all over Liverpool, there is also a Liverpool Urchins grafitti group etc. Shadowfax is right, for some it is seen as cool to be affiliated.

Italy threatens to close stadiums
Posted: Monday April 11, 2005 1:44PM; Updated: Monday April 11, 2005 1:44PM

ROME (AP) -- The Italian government threatened to close some soccer stadiums Monday after a total 85 policemen were injured in clashes with fans across the country at the weekend.

Matches in Rome, Palermo, Udine, Cava dei Tirreni and Perugia were marred by violence, with visiting fans battling police at some railway stations as they were escorted away from the ground

"Another Sunday like this" would lead to the stadiums affected being shut down, interior minister Giuseppe Pisanu said.

Play resumed at the weekend after a break to mourn the death of Pope John Paul II.

Pisanu, of the governing center-right coalition led by Silvio Berlusconi, said the "most barbaric violence" contrasted with the civility of the huge crowd attending the pope's funeral.

Italy's police union advocated the suspension of matches at stadiums with a history of violence.

Seventeen fans were arrested and 259 later identified and charged over Sunday's violence.

About 200 Livorno fans hurled objects at police and vandalized the San Pietro station on the outskirts of Rome outskirts after their team's Serie A match against Lazio at Stadio Olimpico.

The Tuscan fans had chanted communist slogans and waved red flags during the match, while groups of Lazio fans reciprocated with fascist and neo-Nazi slogans.

"It's right that fans understand that serious actions will be taken," Rome mayor Walter Veltroni said. "We can't accept living in a country where taking children to the stadiums can be dangerous."

Elsewhere, several Messina supporters were arrested for hurling objects at policemen inside the stadium during the Sicilian derby with Palermo.

Police arrested five people in Udine for damaging the bus taking them to the station after the Udinese-Roma match.

About 40 policemen were injured at Cava dei Tirreni, southern Italy, when fans rioted following a fourth-division match.

I hadn't thought about the implications of how much Livorno and Lazio fans are pretty much stereotyped at diametric, opposite ends of the political spectrum. That doesn't sound pretty indeed. For every Di Canio salute, I'm sure someone was hanging a Berlusconi doll in effigy...

Well, I knew Livorno has a very far left fan base, and of course with Di Canio's straight-arm tactics a while ago this event was just waiting to take place. There seemed to be a lot of rivalries and derbies over the weekend, so something like this probably won't happen again this season.

Unless it takes place at the Delle Alpi on Wednesday..

Whats the big deal if he is a part of that group? The Urchins havent caused much problems for anyone. They are a fan group, so big deal if he is a part of it.

Shadowfax here seems to be a member of Drughi Juve. A fan group whos leader Dino is a convicted criminal, a murderer. Correct me if im wrong. I could be.

So whats the difference?

What are you on about Joey? It's not a big deal at all if he's in that group. I was just answering to Shadowfax in which he did not believe that guy was a real supporter, or questioned him to be precise.

Lazio president shrugs off fascist banners

Sun Apr 10, 2005 09:34 PM BST

By James Eve
ROME, April 10 (Reuters) - The president of Italian Serie A club Lazio says his club can not be held responsible for fans who displayed fascist banners during a match at Rome's Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

A section of the north stand -- home of Lazio's hard-core "ultra" supporters -- held up a banner reading "Fascist Rome" and chanted right-wing slogans during their team's 3-1 win over Serie A rivals Livorno.

"Sport must not take up political positions. As a club we bear no responsibility," Claudio Lotito told Italian television programme Stadio Sprint on Sunday.

"With the minute's silence (before the match) in memory of the Pope the club demonstrated it does not have a political position, but rather has tried to instil morals and the rediscovery of authentic and spiritual values.

"The responsibility (for the chants) is ours only if we do nothing to stop them. We can't put a police officer on every fan."

Lotito's attempt to wash his hands of the incident will do nothing to repair the image of a club that has often fallen foul of the sport's governing bodies.

Last season UEFA handed Lazio a one-match stadium ban after their fans hurled racist abuse at Partizan Belgrade players during a UEFA Cup match.

In the past Lazio supporters have also made monkey-grunts at black players and held up anti-Semitic messages.

In January this year Lazio striker Paolo Di Canio caused controversy by performing a fascist-style salute in front of the ultras at the end of the city derby against AS Roma.

I know you were not referring to the Milan Curva however, the Curva sud is run by a few old school leaders WHO have a ZERO TOLERANCE for any political flags, banners or hymns. Politics are banned from the Curva. Its too bad other Curvas did not follow suit.
