Interesting fact:

WE SUCK WHEN IT COMES TO SOCCER..

HOW BADLY

there are 4 Canadian kids playing in Serie A and B teams

how many Americans?

There a over 25 Canadians plaing in England (Premier and 1st Division)

We can't even compete with Canada and your trying to shove this "We are getting better horseshit" down our throats

Becks and your RIM partner...extend us some fokin respect...your not dealing with the mentally challenged on your soccer teams here...
Canada is such a world power when it comes to soccer. They really had a good go at it in 2001 when they just fell short of qualifying for the WORLD CUP.

I don't know where you're from; I guess in New York people have too much fun watching the New York Wankees to care about a real sport. You onbviously have NO CLUE about the Project 40 system going on here, and probably, pathetically, can't even name a single player in it. Come back and talk to me again when Canada DOES SOMETHING in world football, not lose to COSTA RICA.

Yeah, only 'loser kids' play soccer here in the United States. At least we aren't LAZY PIECES OF KAKA who have to walk out to center field or to the pitching mound with big league chew in our mouths. Then after the game go to North Carolina and stand next to 50,000 of your fellow HICKS watching a Nascar race, next to Travis May cheering for some other HICK in car number 8 with a fat CHILLI DOG in his mouth. Sounds like class to me.
I wasnt making a point about losers playing soccer in the states. Just that surely it wasnt on the same level.

Though from movies etc i concluded that real men play american football or whatever :D

Anyway that wasnt the point.

We get made fun of because we play soccer here in the States by football jocks who don't even know where HUNGARY is. Then people from other countries laugh at us because we play soccer. I love it.

Dont you get it.

I wasnt laughing at you because you play soccer. Only saying that as the real sportsmen probably play america soccer, i would imagine the weaker species and less talented species to play soccer. No big deal. We all have a place in gods plan :D

Same level as european university soccer. In other words London Uni team would tear your team a new ass everyday of the week and twice on a sunday.

Dude...if you forgot...I live in Rome...I watch an average of 20 Serie A games a year not to mention B games...
and telling me "pathetically" can't name a single player...AU CONTRAIRE..PATHETIC if you can...
Canada: I could care less what they do

    the facts remain the same

they have almost double the amount of players the U.S. Has in Europe
including the PRIMAVERA teams in Serie A

Where are the Chipper's, Brandon's and Elmer's at??

Come back and talk to me when you watch a REAL GAME or when you don't have to play soccer on a field with 20..30 and 40 yard markers on the grass...

I have played four sports in my life: Soccer, Ice Hockey, Baseball, and Basketball. The latter two sports were a waste of time and money, and baseball was incredibly boring to play and easy. Hockey was great, should have kept playing, but it was too time consuming, so I focused on soccer. Reason? Because I love it.

Same level as european university soccer. In other words London Uni team would tear your team a new ass everyday of the week and twice on a sunday.
Um, don't all the real talented players go to club teams instead of the Uni in England? That is what I thought.

I don't know if they could or not, as our Penn State D1 team has like 8 foreigners on it and is highly competitive. There is no way for me to explain to you how good we are because you don't know the system here. I don't even know why we are discussing this, as I have already stated the football in Europe is much better than here in the States.

ANDY .. Are you on RITALIN?

Why do you keep making that "people laugh at us" because we play soccer when the point was clear:

U.S. University soccer is the equivalent of a pick up game between 6 year old Portuguese obese kids with club feet...

no one laughed at you because you played soccer.....

The reason behind that Nicky is because Canada does not have a PRO league, while the US has the MLS. Young players once entering the MLS are required to stay for a while, and the top prospects are not allowed to leave because they want the MLS to keep growing and keep the competitive levels as high as possible. If all the top youngsters went to Europe, we would not have the MLS.

But seriously, can you name a single player in the Project 40 system?

I realized that a while ago.

As I said before, the top players in England go to club teams, not to the Uni. Many of our tops players just go to College and play, then to the MLS. But the quality level of Uni soccer is much better than you think Nick.

Dude..if I did..I give you the permission to kick the shit out of me...
Secondly, I'm talking about 15 year olds in Italy
in teams like Atalanta, Brescia, Reggina and Inter.
Actually Americans CAN LEAVE they just choose to stay for the most idiotic reasons...on that subject the MLS is a joke...pure and simple.

By the way...two teams from the A-league requested to make the jump to MLS and got the go-ahead..the reason they did not was because the MLS insisted they play in Stadiums...the teams realized that renting the SKYDOME for 8,000 fans was not exactly a good business decision.

They cannot just get up and leave, they have to fulfill their contract. For instance, if it wasn't for our cap system Bobby Convey would have made the move to Tottenham last year. :groan: But yeah, I have no idea why players like Donovan and Beasley stayed for so long, as the latter is tearing up Holland for PSV.

I wish Americans would make the smart move and choose Italian sides rather than English and German. Players like Conner Casey (Mainz, Ger) and John Spector (Man U) are making strides in their own way.

The MLS is not a class European league obviously, but it's not the shite like some people think. Over the past four years it has been improving, and the matches themselves have been raising in class substantially.

I have to agree with Nick on this topic

To me, watching the MLS would be like watching the German pro baseball league

And I really cant stand when the football lines are on the field, what a joke

If I have a son, and he shows some potential in soccer, I am sending him to Italy to further his career.....

How many Americans have actually played in Serie A, B, or C in the past ?????

The great Alexi Lalas played for Padova..but when his goatee and guitar playing antics were boring they got rid of him
he did score on Milan though..true story.

I admit I too have watched and BEEN TO MLS games but only to meet Walter Zenga and other players who finished their careers in the MLS.

by the way Dandy Andy I'm from New Rochelle (Westchester) NY and not from NYC ... but yes I am a Yankees fan.
