Because he is the coach..because he has accepted the responsibility of being the scapegoat when things go wrong and the "genius" when things go right. He has no qualms about talking when things go right in which case people really don't care..in that case he should step up the plate and describe in his mind as coach and visionary for the squad what he think went wrong. Press conferences are part of sports as it sells papers which advertise the team in a non-traditional way and give the fans who dish out hundreds if not thousands a year some peace of mind.

Actually coaches never do that which is why they are coaches. Actually they will reverse this pre-conceived notion we have in our heads as fans that ONE or TWO players ruined it...a coach will come out and defend his team but give a reason (whether valid or not) and try to make sense of the situation and as I said before offer a peace of mind. I really don't recall any coach in the history of Serie A saying this player played terribly and as a result we lost. A coach will re-assure.

No again he would not do that...your talking this way as if coaches do it all the time?? Even Cosmi who has a circus trainer for a clown does not utter one bad word about him...why in your right mind would you think Lippi would??

Lippi's case is getting on many nerves because he holds extra long press conferences when they win big and offers the very uncreative and unfair (to the fans) "no comment" and "gag order" when they lose.
I only said that Lippi should say all those things because this are things we want to hear, although we never expect to actually hear them. I don't need "Yes our defence wasn't working well today so we had troubles". We know that as we saw that, he wouldn't tell me something new. But he could tell why our defence was working bad? Becase we have old or not very good players or our transfer guru forgot to go shopping. NONE of the coaches would say that as you already mentioned, so again, one doesn't need all those confrences as we wouldn't hear what we want. Not because he wouldn't say it, but because he can't and because it's not the right things as the whole team (not just thé team, but staff etc. as well) for defeats.

You have told me nothing...sorry Nina....maybe next time your in Rome I could introduce you to my hard core Juventini neighbours who watch Juve week after week live following them ... their comments on Lippi's annoying habit only to talk out when its time is apparently not seen with as much ease as yours. :)
Didn't mean to get on your back in these past few posts but watch were you skate when the ice is thin

Pantani the Pirate will be missed. He was my favorite in cycling. Any details on how he died?
Probably related to medication (anti-depressants) he was on. The Pirate never got over being pulled from the Giro and the Tour...he never recovered from his depression and kept sinking further.

A Sad day for cycling and the sporting world in general... a clear sign of the hardships that affect sportsman when it comes to an end... for all the glory and money so many find themselves alone.

The deaths of marco and jiminez will hopefully open peoples eyes and stop this happening again.

Farewell to 2 great champions in chaba and marco.

Both of you excited the people like few others, over the last generation have only really been 3 riders to truely excite the people and bring massive passion everywhere they go... marco, chaba and virenque....

Now two of the great entertainers have been taken for no reason.

This is one cycling fan that will never forget the joy and spirit you have brought to a wonderful sport... Thankyou and R.I.P

Also a quick mention for young Johan Sermon who was also found dead this morning.
