Bingo!!!!!

Be that as it may, Chelsea backed up the Brinks truck to get him, and if you don't think that Milan is going to take that money, rejuvenate their entire defence, and have enough money to buy a young striker or two, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'm looking to sell.

Dirt Cheap.

The Ukraine Football Federation had claimed that The Blues had stumped up €36 million (£24.5 million) for the fearsome hot shot, while previous reports had suggested that Chelsea would have to splash out a British record fee of £35 million to secure Shevchenko's signature.

Though Chelsea have not divulged the exact amount, the figure does eclipse the £24.4 million the club paid Lyon for Michael Essien last summer...

Andy: for the sake of your reputation I think you should stress out your Dutch ancestry rather than your German... Just a thought :D
Dude, I don't have that Holland jacket, but not a single Germany garment, for nothing, you know. :D

Well, perhaps one time we're on msn. You better be a good boy though. :D

Sergio: I have not yet heard your opinion on our chances this June. You probably share the same opinion I do in that, if we beat the Czechs, anything is possible. However, if we lose, we're simply out.

Not to mention we probably have Brazil waiting in the next round.

I agree, but the United States is like a huge orgy of people from all over the world, there is no one who's really "American". I think because most of fans in the US are young; most are probably 2nd generation Americans of other origin, so I can understand why they wouldn't support the United States.
Ahhh, but you could also argue that Brazil is one huge orgy of different cultures as well, Zé T, and that there is no one who is really "Brazilian". (Brazilians may reflect a wide diversity of native cultures, but they also represent a huge influx of Europeans, African slaves, etc.)

Of course, I'm living in the country whose president supposedly said of Brazil, "Do you have blacks, too?"

My opinion is this on our beloved Red, White and Blue.

Our Strikers (Although I still can't figure out why Taylor Twellman is NOT on the team), with Beasley, Johnson, and McBride are class.

Our midfielders, provided that Dempsey and Convey get significant playing time could be something special.

The Defense??? Ooof, is all I can say. Not having Hejduk and Cory Gibbs back there is going to suck.

If their midfielders can control posession and create, then they have a chance to advance past the Czech Republic, especially since they are being hit hard with injuries.

If not, then its going to be a very short tournament.

Except, there's been so much cross "breeding" between them that they can't really trace their ancestry anymore :D

And yes, that was unbelievable :disagree:

From the last few friendlies we have seen, it seems we are having trouble putting the ball in the net. Eddie Johnson has not found his goalscoring touch after his long-term injury, and McBride is not on his top form either. That, along with the defense problem, certainly worries me.

I think our secret weapon could be Convey and Dempsey because I'm sure Bruckner and Lippi are not exactly up to date with how much trouble they both could cause. Bobby could certainly trouble Zaccardo on the left flank with his speed and Dempsey will have an easier time without Zambrotta in the lineup. I just hope Bruce finds a way to field at least Convey every match because he's too good to leave on the bench. He's looked better than Beasley FFS.

As for the defense, Onyewu will obviously start but as for his partner I am not sure. Pope is too old, Bocanegra hasnt been playing that much for Fulham, Berhalter is meh and Conrad is too inexperianced. Hopefully Arena will choose the right guy.

Although I agree with you on using Convey and Demspey more, what I fear if I'm the US is exactly what is going to happen if those two lose posession on the wings, the ball gets brought up to Pirlo, who in turn with his exquisite long passes hits Totti in stride, who will THEN feed the ball to either Toni or Gilardino. The counterattack that Italy could employ could be quite lethal against that defense. Kasey Keller is going to have his hands full. McBride looked pretty good on sunday, to tell you the truth. John O'brien played well, also.

Indeed. I would like to employ O'Brien against Rosicky and Nedved...he would certainly give them a bunch of hell. Considering our defense is not exactly solid I think the best course of action is to beat the Czechs on the flanks and never stop pressuring their defense. But Bruce will probably field his usual 4-3-1-2 so that could mean no Convey and instead O'Brien, Reyna, and Beasley in midfield. If I was in his position I would probably just play McBride up top with Donovan behind him and the Beasley-Convey duo on the wings. And against Italy I haven't even begun to think about that match yet. :D
