USA, the fifth-ranked team accoring to the FIFA (LOL) standings was own3d today by a Germany team that isnt even in the top 20 FIFA (LOL) rankings...

my question of course is what position should Italy, who completely manhandled the Germans, be ranked ???

According to what happened today, they should be at least considered for 4th spot

The USA's upcoming friendlies in preparation for the WC, are Jamaica, Morocco, Latvia, and Venezuela. Someone please tell me how this might prepare the Americans to face teams like Italy and the Czech Republic in round 1 ??

Havent the USA had enough pushover teams to beat on in the last couple years since WC 2002, to "earn" the ranking of 5th in the world ???

Word my friend! We were close to get to the world cup but we have no expirience, and playing against Argentina, Brasil, Uruguay, Ecuador is very tough. Anyway Arango is doing great, he's our hero here in Venezuela. NOT Chavez!!!

Arango seems like a talented player indeed. I have seen Mallorca play twice so far this year, and in each match Arango has really controlled the play for his side and was always a constant threat. Without him Mallorca would be much less of a side and would seriously be going down this season.

And yeah, thank goodness Chavez is not the hero of Venezuela and that dirty election-fixing scumbag seemingly loves to make a fool out of himself very frequently nowadays. I just hope the future for Venezuela doesn't include Chavez because, from what I've heard, it doesn't seem very bright.

Well, like I said, it certainly helps to have such a knowledgable informant living in the country. Without her, I would be just as clueless as the rest of the lot. Perhaps.

Caracas seems like quite an awesome city, so perhaps I will live there one day. You have got to love a cosmopolitan city surrounded by mountains with a tropical climate...seems like paradise to me. Not to mention the woman are strikingly beautiful.

Im assuming you didnt watch the game. The US didnt get owned and it was a good match until the 70th minute. If you look at the rosters for the day you'll notice that Germany played their strongest squad and the US didnt. Many of the US regulars were not able to to play. Germany should have won, since it was basically a game against MLS all stars. The US probably isnt a top five team in the world and the Czech Rep is also not second best. And yes Italy does deserve a higher ranking. Even though its reason is a home win over a lackluster Germany squad with the youngest back four in the world. But come summer Ill be betting my money on the red, white, and blue not some underachieving Azzurri squad that has managed to choke itself out of the last couple World Cups.

yes guys, I did watch the whole game, and I felt the Germans took it to the USA right from the beginning, because they had some much to prove after the hammering that the Azzurri gave them...and to please the crowd who might have had all their heads, including Klinsmann's, after the game had the USA won

The USA did have some bright spots (including the header from Johnson that Kahn saved so perfectly), but I thought Germany showed they were the better team throughout the entire match

You wouldnt know that though, listening to that dingbat Marcelo Balboa. Talk about being one-sided, the guy is a joke as an announcer, and he would have you think that the USA was winning the damn game by a wide margin.

I dont know who the starters are, but I can tell you that its very rare that Italy play with a full strength squad in any of their friendlies, due mostly to injuries, so that is no excuse. Would Donovan have made that much of a difference in there today ?? This is the same crybaby who crash out of Germany...twice !!

One thing that puts me of national team games is the anthem show prior to the match. With most civilised European Nations there's 3 out of 11 players actually singing along, another two will bother to stand still and the rest is just waiting for it to be over.
