That is called democracy Nick. Political parties are given financial help by the state, as you say it, by the number of votes they get. And people are free to choose who they vote for.
Once you start to say that one particular party doesn't deserve it's aid, you're neglecting the people's choice, and thus neglect democracy.

I am not saying I don't think every citizen or viewpoint should get their fair shot at having their voice heard..what I am saying is that racist and ignorant platforms should not be given latitude and a helping hand at getting supporters...Why does Canada not have this racist platform parties in the limelight? Sure, America is a lot more demcratic than Cuba or the former Iraq, but that's no feat. My point is merely that Americans claim to have the best and most democratic government in the world, and that's very far from the truth.

Canada doesn't have reactionary nationalists parties like France, because Canada doesn't have a significant percentage of racial minorities.

If you look at numbers obviously because France has a larger population but on a per capita basis Canada has more visible minorities and more a much more vast variety of immigrants than France...Quebec opens its doors to Francophone speaking nations creating an influx of Haitains, Moroccans and Algerians in the 80's/90's and because of its low population they have opened their doors to Sri Lankans, Indians, Pakistani and Arabs. Difference between France and Canada is that Canada doesn't give the radical extremist parties the time of day and do not encourage LePen type platforms...
By the way, 'wealth' a big word for provinces like Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Manitoba which are and have been in a struggling state.

I was puzzled and asked why, and she said that all around the neighborhood are Portuguese, and if they win, they'll be celebrating all night, and she has to work early in the morning, and wont get any sleep !!

The funny thing about Portuguese (and my own wife's family is pretty hardcore) is that they tend to root for Brazil and Portugal. Which makes really no sense to me other than the language thing -- and even at that Brazilians and continental Portuguese don't really understand each other all that well.
