O.K. then, You say Giraudo is a Torino fan (I did not know that), and I know the owner of Torino is a big Juve supporter, and neither Juve nor Toro have a Turin-born player in their first team. This is one of things that is soo wrong with football today.

Kaiser nailed it: Moggi made his name with Napoli and has a long affinity for the team as does Ciro Ferrara (despite Gobbi claims that he bleeds black and white) as does Fabio Cannavaro.
Ciro Ferrara's love for Napoli ended a while back. I thought this was evident during the preseason match Juve played at the San Paolo. The Napoli faithful hurled abuse at Ferrara the entire match, and many of the gian banners accused Ferrara of being ungrateful to the club and forgetting his roots.

So, would it be better to have a Turin born player on either Torino or Juve just for the sake of having one, even if it reduces your overall quality of the squad?

Maybe the burden should be placed on Juve and Torino to further develop players from that region

Sergio, Juve's youth system is loaded with kids from Turin and Piemonte, but the fact is that we are not far removed from an age that saw 14 of 15 torninese players on the field when Juve faced Toro in the derby. That is the reason there is so much hatred in derby matches, a feeling that is only simulated today for nostalgic reasons.

I think that age might be a little farther removed than we would like to believe, Robert. Back in the days before the multi-multi million dollar transfers. Too much competition to win now, way too much money at stake.

Oh yes, and when a player from the Piemonte region DOES happen to develop, lets hope Juve doesn't manage to find a way to **** up the kid's career.

I was jus trying to think of teams throughout history that for some period could rightfully call themselves... the best team in the world

I could only come up with :

Milan
Real
Torino
Manu

any others?

That show was for the tourists Pado.

    Little known fact:

At the Milan-Juve match-up in NEW YORK...away from the piss hurling ultras...my friends told me there was a HUGE sign before the game (when the players walk on to the field to act like horticulturalists and inspect the grass in their polo shirts and shorts) that read "CIRO...NAPOLI: SEMPRE CON TE"

Ciro walked up to the stands....kissed his hand to his heart and then gave them a thumbs up..yes I know its a 'so what he is being polite' story but Napoli-"folk" are the most loyal individuals in Italy are extremely proud of their city: Fabio Cannavaro, Ciro Ferrara they know who pays the bills but if the situation was right they would return home in a "Napoli" minute.

Hmmm, maybe Bayern Munich back when they were European Champions in 1974, 1975, and 1976.

My father has been a Napoli tifoso for as long as I can remember. This current stretch they are in is breaking his heart. But, I'm getting a good laugh over it, so its not that bad. :D

Don't forget the two teams who are sandwiched around Bayern.

Ajax won the European cup 3 years in a row in the early 70's, and then liverpool won 3 over the next 5 years after Bayern.

And who knows what could have happened in Milan if Van Basten's career wasn't cut short due to injuries.

True there are fewer and fewer examples of this...

    Maldini clan...

    Totti...

    Nesta with Lazio....

But when a player is from another area but grows up cheering for the team...its KIND of the same wavelength...

    Gattuso with Milan.
    Del Piero with Juve
    Ambrosini with Milan

I know you included Milan, all I was saying is that they could have accomplished even more if not for Van Basten's injury.

... but im not convinced that ajax at that time were the best in the world... good yes but the best... im not so sure
Its hard to argue with three consecutive European Cups, though. Didn't Liverpool, during their heyday, also win a couple of UEFA cups in between their European Cup victories?
