She was born in Napa, CA, but she was born right after both her parents emigrated from São Jorge Island in the Azores. So English was her second language. And even today, hanging with some of the in-laws takes me back to the street bullfights in Terceira with a plastic cup of lupini beans and a Sagres in hand handed to me by a 7-year-old with his feet sticking out of the cold storage chest...

Thats pretty interesting. My mom has portugese and german blood (her mother's mother was portugese and her father's mother was german)
