Max, I see you out there.

I know you feel my pain with the loss of Darren McCarty. He is a true warrior of Detroit and I am extremely pissed and sadended we let him go. I would take him over Shannahan anyday.

And I'm sure you heard, Forsberg to the Flyers. That team is going to be incredible it seems, until you look at the defense. Hatcher, Rathje, Therian...all 6 foot 5 and not very quick. With the new rules in place to help speed the game up, these players will get beat more without the two line pass rule. The Flyers will have a blueline filled with big, strong, immovable players. That will be their weakness along with goaltending.

So many moves to talk about, it's ridiculous. Catch all the rumours here:

As you can see I can't wait for hockey season. You dont know how much you miss something until its gone.

Hey man thanks for the link. I'm a McCarty fan as well (I'm a big fan of anyone who's willing to scrap for the sake of someone else, and score goals at the same time). It's a shame that they let him go, but hey, at least your team has a solid core of veterans that are still on contract. As for the Flyers, everyone says that the presence of Hatcher and Rathje will clear up the front of the net, but what good is that when you have a forward like Alexei Kovalev or whomever dancing around the defence? The issue of speed that you have brought up is exactly right. I'm really pissed that Toronto has bummed out so many veterans who would do anything, including taking a massive pay cut, to play there. Mogilny looks like he'll soon be gone. I guess this is the end.

I could go on for ages criticizing the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mr. John Ferguson Jr., heir to the "Star" daily newspaper publication. This is the guy who cut current Leaf coach Pat Quinn from his position of GM, responsible for all trades/transactions, and managing the club. Pat Quinn is an absolute whiz kid when it comes to hockey (IMO second behind Bowman as the best modern-day coaches). He aquired the likes of Gary Roberts, Joe Niewendyk, and Alexander Mogilny, among others. The Leafs had a solid team under Quinn's direction as coach/GM.

As soon as Mr. Ferguson took over, the first thing he did was relieve Pat Quinn of his duties as GM, and Quinn, as expected, was upset and expressed it in an interview. The relationship between the two has not been the same since, and it is no surprise that the Leafs haven't budged in the free agent market this summer.

Here's a little hidden agenda I figure Ferguson has set forth for the upcoming season. As of now, Ferguson cannot fire the Leafs' coach Pat Quinn because there's no reason for it. After the Leafs have let the likes of Roberts, Niewendyk, and Leetch go, the team is left without that extra and all-important motivation from the dressing room. The Leafs will bottom out this year, take the free agent market by storm next season, and ultimately fire Pat Quinn, which is all Ferguson wants. The risks involved (money loss, etc...) are potentially damaging, but this guy is an idiot, so he'll probably do it.

Unfortunately that's what I see as well. I have always admired Pat Quinn in the world of hockey, especially how he worked the free agent and tade market. You could see he knows what he's doing, and I can't help but feel the players and injuries let him down the past few playoff contention years. The game sevens never treated him right in Toronto. We shall see if this Ferguson guy knows anything about hockey. And hey, at least Quinn wasn't fired already.

As for Detroit, it looks like we won't be seeing the star-studded fluid and fast-paced Red Wing team we are used to seeing. Mike Babcock is our new coach and we will probably see a more hard-working team this upcoming season, although thankfully we will still have players such as Robert Lang, Mat Schneider, and Captain Steve who just signed new contracts. Problem is though we only have 12 players under contract at the moment with just $11.5 million to spend on about 11 players, including our restricted free agent starlets Datsyuk and Zetterberg. We can't do without them, and we can't do without a competent goalkeeper. We will spend about 7 million on Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Niklas Kronwall alone, and if we sign Nikolai Khabbibulin like the rumours say we will have almost no money leftover. This is a huge problem for our club, and I don't see Lord Stanley in our near future, unfortunately. Shitass salary cap and douchebag Bettman. :lazy:

Owen Wilson :dielaugh::LOL:

Excuse me as I go pick myself off the floor :D
Shut up Erik. :D

As for the comparison, I have sort of that "athlete's nose arch" that Owen Wilson has, and the hair indeed is basically the same. Certainly not an exact match, however I can see the resemblance. ;)
