Not to be pedantic, but Neymar was half the player in 13/14 that he came to be a year later when they won it. Suarez also didn’t join till that season too. So they had 3 goes

1 in 3 was previously pretty good. Madrid’s unprecedented and almost supernatural run in the competition (winning 3 in a row and 4 in 5 years) completely warped and distorted the standard for success in that competition. Before that run, no one had ever won it twice in a row let alone 3 times.
