Juve door opens for Ron Friday 12 January, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus are being linked with a shock move for Ronaldo after Milan insisted that the Real Madrid man is not on their wanted list.

The Brazilian’s stint at Real seems to be coming to an end, with the Spanish Press insisting that the 34 minutes played against Deportivo on Sunday were his last for the club.

Boss Fabio Capello is unconvinced of the 29-year-old’s ability and is, according to Marca, ready to ignore him for the rest of the campaign.

Milan have subsequently again been linked after going close to landing the former Inter star during the summer.

However, Milan chief Adriano Galliani last night categorically ruled out the arrival of Ronaldo this month.

“We are not looking for a striker,” said the official. “There is only one negotiation underway at the time being and that is with Lazio for defender Massimo Oddo.”

The Rossoneri’s snub could now sensationally open the door for Juventus to make a shock move for the South American.

Turin daily Tuttosport today leads with a story claiming that Nike, who sponsor both the player and the Italian club, are ready to financially help the Turin giants net the 30-year-old.

An imminent move would be unlikely though seeing as the Old Lady of Italian football are still five months away from Serie A status.

Other possible options for Ronaldo include Flamengo and Arabian club Al-Ittihad, who have allegedly made a lucrative offer to convince the player to join Inter man Luis Figo from July.

The MLS may also be a temptation after Madrid teammate David Beckham signed a £130m five-year deal with the LA Galaxy on Thursday.

Premiership sides Portsmouth and Newcastle have also been mentioned in the same breath as the former Golden Ball winner.

nike trying to save their star, and we fit the bill quite well. we're still big club wtih loads of fans worldwide. we don't have as much money as we used to, and landing a free player isn't an alian idea for juve-management, has never been.
BUT hell no we don't want big fat ronnie, who doesn't remember his feelings for our club, and i'd say vice versa.
If nike really want to help us...well why don't you send us ronaldinho instead!!
no, i'd think adriano is going to end up being traded with ronnie and cassano, or ronnie going to roma perhaps, hopefully never to us...

I dont care how much crap Ronaldo gets on the forums. He may not be as lethal as he was,but he is still a very good finisher. He could be ideal for us - Juventus is a club in transition, and Ronaldo needs a club to save his career. If he gets his confidence back, and he plays regularly,he can be great.Klose has been linked as Trezeguet's possible replacement, but TBH,if given the choice,id prefer Ronaldo over Klose.

He has pedigree, has performed at the highest level, has an excellent goal scoring record, and knows the Italian game well, unlike Klose.

i agree pretty much, but the only prob is that as we all know jvue dont play nice footbal, and many times we skip our midfield with long balls to our forwards, and trezeguet is great at this, keeping the ball and making our squad move up.. something which klosecan do but ronnie cant, we need definetely a strong phsical tall player up front to replace trezeguet, about ronnie i think if he comes at a cheep price he can give 2 years of goood football still.. he only needs continuity.. but once again up front is not our priority at the meantime

It would be a disaster.

On a brighter note, radio reports in Italy this morning are talking of Di Natale on the verge of moving to Juve from Udinese.
Actually, it´s Cesare Natali, average Udinese defender. :D

I agree with what Vlatko said,

As much as I was skeptical on Beckham, there is no doubt in my mind Ronaldo, when fully fit, is a player from different planet. Obviously, it is highly doubtful whether he will reach his full height, but 70% Ronaldo is good enough to be a valuable contributing member to the team, in the same way Alex has been for us throughout last 7-8 years or so.

As long as we don't have to pay a cent for the transfer deal, and not pick up all the wage burden of Ronaldo (Nike could assist that), then I will take him in a heartbeat. It is clear from Cassano's recent interview, Ronaldo still got it in terms of ball skills, and general knowledge of the game. We just need to get him on a fitness gym, and shed some fat off his body. In a new environment, I do think this is not entirely beyond realm of possibility. In any case, we can ask him to persuade Robinho to join our team. He is after the all the King of Brasil.
