Err, Kahn is still one of the better keepers around. Lehmann is no slouch either.

Benjamin Lauth is a player to watch for as well.

do you know the Italian squad for this match?
I hope that Camo, Del Piero, Di Vaio, Buffon, Zambrotta, Birindelli, Marescs and Iuliano will play :D
There's no way that Iuliano will start ahead of Cannavaro, Nesta and Legrottaglie (you missed him out) and Del Piero-Di Vaio and Zambrotta-Birindelli can't/won't co-exist.

IMO the best formation for Italia is the 3-4-1-2 but we've been winning with the 4-2-3-1 so we could as well stick with that. Here's what I would play:

    -----------------------Buffon----------------------
    --------Cannavaro-----Nesta----Legrottaglie--------
    --Fiore------Tacchinardi-----Maresca-----Zambrotta--
    ------------------------Totti------------------------
    ------------------Vieri---------Del Piero-------------

But Trap will play something like this:

    -----------------------Buffon----------------------
    --Panucci---Cannavaro------Nesta-----Zambrotta---
    --------------Zanetti----------Perrotta------------
    ---Fiore----------------Totti---------------Del Piero---
    ------------------------Vieri--------------------------

personally, in friendlies, i dont want juve players in there. but i only think that del piero, legrottaglie, tacchinardi, maresca and camoranesi should be in the italina squad.

i dont think birindelli is good enough, and Di Vaio would have to find form before breaking into the team again. i think Corradi, inzaghi, vieri, del piero, miccoli and even cassano is miles ahead.

Well Di Vaio has found a bit of form, hasn't he?

As strikers, Bobic and Lauth are the most dangerous. Klose is overrated, definetly. Neuville plays more as offensive mid and he usually takes the corners. As mids, I would watch carefully Schneider, especially at free kicks,
Ramelow, because he has a hard tackle (injury risk), Freier maybe and that no comment Ballack boy. Rau !!! Definetly the most dangerous man on the field, forget that he is defender, he goes in attack as often as a true striker. Beware that guy.

Fantasista, when di vaio shows form in Serie A and the CL when the season starts, then he can come in. But i dont feel that playing feel in pre-season matches is enough to merit a call up.

but then again, look at some of the players who are in there now........so realistically with traps in charge, i guess it doesnt matter.

    Ballack to miss Italy tie?
    ---------------------------------

Italy’s preparations for the Germany friendly next week have been boosted by an injury to Michael Ballack.

The Bayern Munich star, arguably his country’s best player, is a major doubt for the August 20 tie in Stuttgart.

The midfielder has picked up a muscle strain which seems to have ruled him out of this weekend’s game against Bochum.

The former Bayer Leverkusen player was one of 20 men named in the German squad by former Roma player Rudi Voeller yesterday.
