Good luck can only get you so far, and bad luck does not keep anyone from achieving success (and wealth). You can fail once, twice, three times and so on, and still be successful in the end. Those who give up have only themselves to blame.

But anyway, almost nobody takes risks so they'd rather be fed by those who do. It's only normal to think you can't succeed on your own if you never have the balls to actually try it but people play it safe instead.

He wrongly attributed a skill he possesses/developed to luck. You can't get lucky 96 times out of 100, especially if you're selling houses.
I didn't say luck is the main factor. He was lucky his mom could pay for his start up and he only lost money on 4 sales. You can't say everything is about skill.

And it's much easier to have "balls", when you don't have to start from nothing.

I can see how that happens. Drivers think they are contesting with only thin snow, but it's hiding sheet ice.

Here few people even change to winter tyres. TBH it's not been needed at all this year, very warm December and only a week of cold right now in Jan. But you should see the state of some people/cars when we get a little bit of snow. Clueless.

temperatures just above 0 and humidity is the worst thing, because if it drops just below freezing you get ice, and then lots of accidents.

It's not the conditions as much as its the people that don't know how to drive in it. You could go to Colorado, for example, and people are used to it there. I'm used to it from Ohio but people here that don't see snow that often simply make it worse because they don't know how to handle an icy road.

My sister moved out to SLC and they don't bat an until there are at least 10 inches. Plus their snow removal program is super efficient, unlike the East Coast.

You get the same here from Scotland to basically the Midlands, people don't think. There are so many bad drivers around as it is, pissing about with phones etc in their cars.

Sure, it was a nice boost that allowed him to start ealier.

I think it's easier to have balls when you do it the smart way. You're screwed the moment you have a wife and kids, a mortgage, etc..

For instance, a entrepreneur starts their business/company in their 20s with no kids or mortgage so in case they fail once, they can always rely on their parents to take them in. Or they keep their 9 to 5 job until their biz takes off and is sustainable.

And you don't need a lot of capital for a startup.

Smart people make shit happen. That's the beauty of capitalism.

Nice boost? You act like a spoilt rich kid. No banks would lend you the money you need for this, if you're an "average Joe".

Oh, and @Völler

One inch of snow shutdown DC

Big snow coming, @Bjerknes @King of Kings @Dru are you guys ready for the big one coming tomorrow?

I'm gonna fire up my snow blower today to make sure I'm ready. :weee:
Going to be a top 5 storm for DC most likely. Two feet for us in the Western suburbs, probably some spots with 30 inches.

Latest NAM has QPF of around 3 inches from DC to the Western suburbs, which translates to 30 inches under 10-1 ratios. Someone actually may end up with 36 inches around these parts looking at the latest models.
