Good rule.With teams like Arsenal and Inter prancing around,this was always on the cards.Im not the least bit surprised,and i think its a good idea.

Agree...I think it's a good rule, But some teams are very miserable with this rule, such as Arsenal...!! So that I think ppl don't like this rule at all!

The mancs wont be affected too much tbh. Rooney, Giggs, Carrick, Scholes, Hargreaves, G.Neville, O'Shea, Brown and Ferdinand all homegrown players.

It doesn't violate the freedom of workers movement it just "limits" it.....It is really dump when someone watches a game where an italian club (inter) meets an english club (arsenal) and u never find either an italian or an english starter in each side .......

i believe the only way this will get round the euro regulations will be to adjust it to the UEFA idea. basically the "homegrown" players can actually be foreigners that have come through the youth ranks(which would be great for arsenal) not just buying ranks of mercenaries(bad for inter).
UEFA have been floating this idea for a while that you are allowed a few foreigners but there must eb a percentage of "home grown" players,either players of the clubs nationality or that had been brought through the ranks.
i think this will be more workable with EU regulations but could lead to english clubs pillaging italian,french and spanish training academies even more than they do now. they would then need to even out the regulations across europe that allow english clubs to benefit through child labour loopholes

Giggs isn't from England, and he retired. But you're right, Arsenal is going to have a problem with this rule.

He's a homegrown player though, he was with them since he was 14 years old. Not to mention, and i may be wrong here, but i think he has an English passport.

but seriously,i think the "home grown" rule could eman arsenal continue on their policy of signing outstanding young talent from all over the world and developing them, as technically they are still "raising" them

I think Juve don't have any problem with this rule. But I was thinking about UAE last night, they have a few national players as I remember. There are a lot of Iranian players there... If this rule will be applied worldwild, they will be fucked I think! Won't they Fred??!
