Nesta had a surgery in his thumb few days ago
and its saying that he got this proble (most propably a disease called DeQuervain's syndrome) from over using them in playing playstasion and other PC games

Rino Gattuso has slammed Milan for leaking details of Alessandro Nesta's PlayStation inflicted hand injury.

A Rossoneri doctor let slip that Nesta, who has been ruled out of action for a month, injured his hand whilst playing with his video console.

Nesta was himself incensed by the transgression, saying: "I am astonished by this. The two things have no relation."

Now team-mate Gattuso has also waded into the debate by claiming that the story would never have reached the press had the incident happened at Juventus.

"Now we have the syndrome of the PlayStation," he groaned.

"At Milan it's important we always communicate with our fans, but it is not always good for the club. Something like this would never have happened at Juventus, the comments would have been blocked long before."

I don't see how that is such a huge issue with Gattuso and even Nesta himself. Evidently he has no idea a couple hours here and there of Playstation could inflict an injury, and to be honest who does?

Besides, he could play even with a broken thumb, it's been done before.

Admittedly its pretty unusual, but how is it of any significance if it doesn't prevent him from playing football?

He was wearing a protective cast on the pitch if that's what you're referring to.

I remember that alright. I also remember some footballer (nearly sure now that it wasn't Del Piero) having some metal tool embedded in his cast. Looked really menacing. (Lazio's favourite free kick taker comes to mind for probably no good reason actually)
