My favourite solution is to grant him his second wife, but on the condition that they join a women's rights group. He'll be suing for divorce inside a month.

The law is the law.. sure but that doesnt mean there are no discriminatory or racist laws.

Using this rationale, we could claim that there is nothing wrong with the Islamic Sharia law used in Saudi Arabia however discriminating against women or homosexuals it may be.

I am unaware of how open Ireland is, but if they did allow orgies or swinger parties then i don't see why polygamy is not allowed. unless the wives are forced to be in this marriage then i think the Irish law is discriminatory.

Perhaps discriminatory is not the best word to use here as i doubt that this is intended to annoy Muslims. I just think that their law never had such a challenge before and if it did it would have had the same reaction.
The muslim guy is using the racism flag to make his position stronger.
I think the same thing would have happened if it was a non-muslim wanting to marry more than one.

If thats what you meant by "its not discrimination if its the law" then we are in agreement.
In short, its just a law that needs to change and the case happened to involve a muslim.

They will be accused of being a racist country if they don't let her in, so in the end they will end up doing. Seriously The UK and Ireland are becoming a joke. The UK needs purging of muslims especially.

Of course they're not illegal here.

I don't punish for everything but something can't be avoided so I try to cut the fights. :p

He was a good addition for this place so he'll not collect two more and get auto-ban. It's just a stop sign.
Nay man, I think you're doing a great job, keep it up

This is very important. Of course, it's also natural that people feel aggrieved that someone claim refuge in their country and then try to tell them that their laws are wrong.

I am unaware of how open Ireland is, but if they did allow orgies or swinger parties then i don't see why polygamy is not allowed. unless the wives are forced to be in this marriage then i think the Irish law is discriminatory.
Actions like that are not illegal, but the law in relation to marriage is relatively conservative. Gay marriage has been a subject of some debate in the past few years, and divorce has been legal for fewer than twenty years.

For myself, I feel that if we view marriage as simply a contract under the law, then it is difficult to justify many restrictions. However, there are other issues to consider: what implications this has for a society where marriage is still considered a major objective in life for many, and what it means for children. I'm loath to restrict personal freedoms, but the issue isn't trivial.

How did i manage to miss this lovely pile of stupidity?

This is not racist in any way. If i a white male married two women in Lebanon aswell and tried for asylum he would still be rejected. This is not discimination in anyway, if anyone claims it to be, they do not know what discrimination is.

"discrimination - prejudiced: being biased or having a belief or attitude formed beforehand; "a prejudiced judge"

If he moved to Ireland without there being a law in place and asked for a visa for his second wife and they then made it illegal and refused entry because of his religion, race or beliefs then it would be discrimination. But it was the law before he moved to the country and it is in no way 'draconian'.

Are you a member of the EDL Nick? Islam is an extremely peaceful belief system, i suggest you visit somewhere like The Gambia and see how Islam is aside from what various newspapers would have you believe. There are over 2 billion followers of islam in the world and the vast majority just get on with their lives and never bother another person and to be believe that ever muslim is the same and that they are in some way corrupting British and Irish cultures is just xenophobia. Woiuld you feel the same if all of the muslims you want 'purged' were white people?

I want all religion gone, and i refuse to demand that just one goes because it is plain racism.
