Wasn’t Kirk the one who once argued that yearly gun deaths were an unfortunate but acceptable price to preserve the Second Amendment? To see him die in such a brutal and public way feels grimly ironic.
There’s no satisfaction in watching something like that, and I do feel for his family. But it’s also hard to ignore how often he took pride in being openly dismissive, even cruel, especially toward children and civilians in Gaza. Whatever happened today, it doesn’t bring justice to them, and it certainly won’t ease the divisions or violence that shaped both his rhetoric and his fate.
